Blackjack or "21" is a game found in every decent casino. There are a few methods to increase your odds of coming out a winner. This article is about single deck blackjack.
Things You Will Need
The only prequisites for this article is either money, if you are playing in a real casino, or a set of cards.
Step 1BlackJack Strategy:
The object of the game BlackJack is to get 21, or as close to 21 as you can without going over (commonly known as going bust). If you don't land 21 then your goal is to beat out the dealer. The Dealer has to stand on any total of 17 or more and hits on anything less giving the player a considerable advantage.
Here are some basic rules you can follow to have statistics in your favor while playing:
-If your first two cards are equal to ten or less you always hit for another card. If You get 11 and there are no card of face value ten or more on the table then the odds are not in your favor to hit.
-No matter what card the Dealer is showing you must always assume that the dealer has a ten face down.
-If your cards total 12-16 this is the danger zone. Your next move should depend on what card the dealer is showing. If the dealer has a card showing between 7 to an Ace you should draw until you are over 16. If the dealer has a card between 2 and 6 then you should stay. Remember, the dealer must stay on 17.
-If you have cards valued between 17 to 20 you should never draw another card. The only exception is if you have a soft hand [meaning you have an ace plus another card, since an ace can be 1 or 11]
If you are at a casino Then there is one thing that can really help you out. Tip (or "toke") the dealer. They are not unionized, work for lousy wages, and depend on your generosity. Unless you're winning serious stakes, a dollar chip every twenty or so hands is generally appropriate. If you want to make sure the dealer has your best interests at heart, place the tip right in front of your wagering circle, essentially turning it into a side bet on your hand. If you win, the dealer's tip doubles.
If you're lucky youre dealer may 'tip' the odds in your favour. You tip well enough and you'll keep winning, but pit bosses catch on to this quick so if you're going to toke big, toke and leave to another casino.
Also never pick a table with a min bet higher then 5% of your total gambling money[your stash]. If there are tables with rule variations they almost always work in your favor like doubling down on any two cards, or the dealer having to stand on soft 17. Even if you don't understand the variation it will still most likely help your chances of winning.
