How to care for your cat

Caring for a cat is a lot of fun but also requires some work. There are some things that you will need in order to take care of a cat. A kitty litter box, cat food, kitty litter, cat toys and a litter scooper are a few things that you will need for your cat.

Things You Will Need

Step 1

Show the cat where the kitty litter box is right when you bring her home. This will help your cat get acquainted with where he is supposed to do his duty.

Step 2

Next, show your cat where the food and water is. By doing this he will know where to go if he gets hungry or thirsty.

Step 3

Give your cat affection often. You can do this by petting your cat, or playing with their toys. Many cats love to chase laser lights around the room.

Step 4

Brush your cat often. Most cats shed a lot. By brushing your cat you will eliminate a lot of the loose fur. Cats tend to lick themselves and may swallow some of the loose hair that causes hairballs.

Step 5

Scoop out the waste in the kitty litter box everyday. By doing this it will keep the litter box clean and smelling fresh which will prevent your cat from messing somewhere else in the house. It is also helpful to completely empty out the kitty litter weekly and fill it with clean kitty litter so your house smells clean.

Step 6

Take your cat to the vet regularly for check ups and shots. You never know when your cat may be getting some kind of illness. It is best to take him in for a check up often to make sure he is healthy.
