How to choose the right Dog Bed
Buying a new dog bed for your dog is not as easy anymore as it was before. Not so long ago there was not much available than a simple blanket to sleep on for your dog and people would believe you if you told that dogs would sleep on beds in the future. But our luxurious life has spread to the life of our pets and now they are able to sleep on beds that have some very useful features and provide a lot of comfort to the life of your dog.
There are a lot of features that are probably unnecessary for your dog but there are also a lot of dog beds that provide a little extra and such examples are the washable dog bed, durable dog bed and the heated dog bed.
The washable dog bed is made of certain fabrics and materials that you can easily do in the washing machine to get it clean again. Not cleaning the bed manually will save you a lot of time and it will also increase the hygiene of your dog. Older beds are not so easy to clean and dog hairs and other dirt are sources of fleas and bacteria that might infect your dog.
The heated dog bed is another great example that provides functionality and comfort to your canine friend. These beds are intended for older dogs that have arthritis or joint pain problems. Just like with people, warmth is the best medication for joint problems and a heated dog bed will just give that to your older canine.
Obviously these beds are not meant for younger dogs. Although they will like the warmth the bed will give, it is an unnecessary luxury that he will not need. But puppies and younger dogs will need other features to provide comfort. If you have some puppies jumping around in your house then you will now that they will bite and chew on everything what they see because that is what puppies do. That is why they developed chew proof dog beds that will prevent the bed from tearing or breaking when your puppies are chewing on it.
If you are planning to buy a dog bed than it is best to know up front what features you want and which ones your dog will need. You should also look at the size of the bed that you need, measure your dog while it is asleep to see what space he needs when he is sleeping. In this way you can decide what size of dog bed he will need.
