The Facebook interface is constantly changing. Some features may get easier to access while others may get harder, or even impossible to find.

A few days ago I accidentally uploaded the wrong file for my profile picture, even though I eventualy rectified my mistake and uploaded the right file, the old picture still appeared in my Profile Pictures photo album.

The Profile Pictures album is not considered a normal Photo Album so there is no Edit Album Info link. Deleting photos from the special Profile Pictures album looks impossible, but there is a way!

Finding out your Profile Pictures album id

Whenever you access a web page the address bar in your browser usually reflects what information you are currently looking at.

When you are looking at your Facebook profile, the address bar might look like this:

When accessing the Profile Pictures album (or any other Facebook album) you will notice that the address bar changes to something like this:

The part we're interested in is aid=114xx. This represents the album we're currently working with.

So to find out your Profile Pictures album id, all you have to do is click on you Profile Pictures album and write down or copy the numbers after the aid= part.

Editing the Profile Pictures album

Now that you know what your Profile Pictures album id is, you can access one of your regular photo albums, click on the Edit Album Info link and then change the aid in the address bar to your Profile Pictures aid, access the Edit Photos area and delete any photo from your Profile Pictures album.

Let's pretend that Vacation Photos is one of your Facebook albums and it's album id is 12345. Also, let's pretend that your Profile Pictures album id is 54321.

Click on the Vacation Photos album, then click on the Edit Album Info link on the bottom left side.

Click on the Edit Photos tab.

Now edit aid=12345 in your addressbar to aid=54321 and press Enter on the keyboard.

The page will reload and you'll now be editing the photos from your Profile Pictures album.

Now you can delete any picture form the Profile Pictures album as you would delete any other Facebook album picture.

A faster way

Once you know what your Profile Pictures album id is, you could just copy the link below, replace the xxxxx part with your Profile Pictures album id and paste it in your browser.

I hope you found this helpful.
