How to do a Drug Detox

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

The best way to do a drug detox is to go to a drug rehab or a treatment center. There are other ways to get detoxed from drugs but none of them are as good or offer the advantages that a rehab can give you.

Going to rehab is good because they have the best chance at keeping you somewhat comfortable during the detox process. The reason that people stay hooked on drugs is because the withdrawal symptoms are so uncomfortable. Therefore, if you do go to rehab, they can give you medication that will ease the pain and discomfort of these symptoms.

Depending on what drugs you take and how much quantity you consume and for how long will all determine the severity of your detox. In some cases a drug detox will be fairly mild and there will not be much problem with it. In other cases the detox will actually be so severe that the person will die from it. This can only occur with certain drugs, such as alcohol or possibly sedatives. Some drugs produce almost no detox at all, such as Marijuana or Cocaine. You will still have a powerful psychological withdrawal from them, but the physical detox effects will be minimal.

If you are detoxing from opiate drug or from heroin, then you will seriously benefit from going to a detox center. Without doing so you will be absolutely miserable from opiate withdrawal or from heroin detox. They can give you a partial synthetic opiate at a drug rehab that will eliminate most of your detox symptoms.

If you can not afford drug rehab then the next best thing to do is to detox at home on your couch. This can be done but it is very uncomfortable, and in some cases it is downright dangerous. If you think you are in danger then you should go to the hospital. This is especially true if you are shaking violently from alcohol withdrawal.
