Most of you are probably wondering how it is possible to earn money for working out. Well, there is this cool new phone app that is making this happen. The intent of this app is to give people motivation to workout by offering cash to those who workout weekly. This will appeal to many people, because who doesn't want motivation to go to the gym as well as some cash?
How does this work?
This app is called Gym Pact and it is available for free download on Apple's App Store. It works by offering you a certain amount of cash based on how many days per week you go to the gym. However, it's not quite that easy. If you miss a day, then you have to pay money. You get to pick how much you owe if you miss a day, which can by $5, 10, $20, or more, whatever you think will motivate you to make it to the gym. The nice thing about this app is that everything is up to the user. You can choose to only workout one day for a week, and then you can workout for three days the following week. Currently, for every workout you complete that you schedule, you will earn about 70 cents. This amount will vary, because the money you get paid will come from other users who missed their workout.
Another cool feature that Gym Pact incorporates is called RunKeeper. It tracks all runs, walks, and bikes, using GPS. After you connect RunKeeper to Gym Pact, as long as you go at least 1/2 mile and continue for 30 minutes, Gym Pact will count this as a workout. Plus, the first 1000 users of RunKeeper will recieve a bonus $5 after their first workout!
After using this app for some time, I can say that it is a great idea, and extremely easy to use. It has helped me to accomplish my fitness goals, while bringing in some extra cash. 70 cents per workout might not seem like much, but it does add up. If you decide to workout 5 days per week like in my example, then you will earn $3.50 per week, or $28 per month, or $182 per year!
