Losing weight is actually a very simple thing - you have to consume less calories than you burn. Doing so will help you to burn excess weight off. Aside from eating less, you can also make these smart substitutes to help you cut back on the calorie contents:

At breakfast

  • Choose skim milk - Always choose skim milk over low fat and full cream milks.

  • Lean bacon instead of sausage - When you cook breakfast, opt for lean bacon instead of sausage.

  • Whole-wheat toast instead of chips - Whole-wheat toast contains much less calories and fat than deep fried chips. It will also keep you full until lunch time - helping you to cut further back on calories.

At lunch

  • Use reduced fat mayo - Always use reduced fat/light mayo instead of the fuller fat and calories ones.

  • Skip the cheese - Adding cheese to your sandwiches is adding unnecessary calories. Leave it out and you will significantly lower your calorie and fat contents.

  • Have a salad and one slice of bread - Salad is much lower in calories than bread and having only halve your sandwich and adding salad is a surefire way to cut back on calories.

At dinner

  • Cook it the healthy way - Healthy cooking methods like grilling, baking, stir-frying and steaming is much lower in calories and fat than more unhealthy methods.

  • Use lean meats - Sticking to leaner meats like chicken and fish will also help you to cut back on calories and fat.

  • Fill half your plate with veggies or salad - Try to fill up half of your plate with vegetables and/salad to cut back on calories.

As snacks

  • Stick to dark chocolate - Dark chocolate is an excellent chocolate alternative that cuts back on calories.

  • Make your own frozen yogurt - Store brought frozen yogurt is high in fat and calories. Make your own by freezing fat free yogurt.

  • Snack on fruit instead of sweets - Make sure that you reach for the fruit instead of the sweets when you feel like a snack.

Sticking to the right portion sizes will also ensure that you keep your calorie content down. An electronic kitchen

can help you do just that. You can also exercise your excess calories off with the help of home treadmills.
