Frequent showering, especially after sweating, is imperative to clearing up acne. Although sweating is our bodies way of cooling off and releasing toxins through the skin, it is not good for someone who is trying to get rid of acne. Sweat pools in the pores along with oils, dirt and dead skin cells, clogging them up. This is why it is so important to get all of this stuff washed off of your face before that happens. Keeping your hair clean (especially if it's long) is also important. Oily hair touching your cheeks and neck is a recipe for new acne breakouts. When you do shower, using a loofah or soft washcloth to help scrub away dead skin is a good idea. Make sure that you rinse all of the shampoo and soap off of your face and body before getting out, and then make sure you towel off really well. Leaving wet hair against the skin or damp skin trapped under heavy clothing can also cause an acne flareup.

Acne Cleansers help wash away the dead skin and oils that can get trapped in your pores. These specialized cleansers are usually formulated for specific skin types and tell you this right on the bottle. If you have sensitive skin, be sure to get one that is for sensitive skin. Using a cleanser that isn't right for your skin type can cause skin irritation and actually make your facial acne worse. You should be applying the cleanser after every time you wash your face, and definitely before you go to bed. Using a cleanser to remove any excess makeup and facial oils at night will go along way to improving your acne problems. Always apply the cleanser with either a soft washcloth, a cotton swab or pad, or even your hands. Never use a rough cloth as this can aggravate your skin and undo the benefits you are getting. After applying the cleanser you should then use a moisturizer to lock in any moisture so your skin does not dry out. Since most cleasners contain either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, you'll want to make sure those chemicals don't leave your skin dry and reddened.

There are a lot of home remedies for acne that people use to clear up their facial acne. Some swear by applying oatmeal to the infected area, others use lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. Applying toothpaste to a pimple before bedtime can reduce the swelling. Some people have had success with rubbing crushed mint leaves or crushed garlic to their faces at night. Others say blended cucumber paste or grated potatoes works wonders. All of these home remedies are to be taken with a grain of salt. Some may work for you, most probably will not. They will certainly not get rid of acne overnight. The secret is to read up on the internet what has worked for others and share any successes that you may have with others.
