The trick to getting a greats night sleep.

 Learning how to sleep in a skill. As hard as that is to believe it’s true.

People need to learn how to get a good nights rest.

Many people can only fall asleep when they are exhausted by then its probably late into the night and you aren’t getting a full eight hours of needed rest. 

Adhering to a set of rules for bed time is the best way to train for sleep. 

1st- don’t sleep with your phone in the same room. Nowadays phones are mini computers and the urge to check your mail or facebook page become almost irresistible when you can’t get to bed. 

2nd- set a schedule and adhere to it. Set your bedtime and get into bed at that time every single night.

 3rd- get an eye mask and ear plugs. Try using one, both, or neither. Either they will work and you will use them, or, they won’t work. 

The key is to experiment. What works for some might not work as well for others. It’s important to find the sleep strategies that work best for you. 

If you can’t sleep, there are a few techniques you can try.

Count to 20, and then reset the count. Do this over and over again. By performing such a mundane and easy task, your brain won’t be able to process stress. This is the best way to clean your head. 

Don’t go the living room and turn the television, the lights or the computer. All of these activities will stimulate your brain, and this is the complete opposite of what we need in order to get to bed. 

If you are an insomniac, don’t stay up late on the weekends just so that you can wake up late on Saturday and Sunday. This is one of the worst things you can do. You need to get up early and go to bed early the rest of the week, by doing this you are running your internal clock. If you were up late on Friday night, wake up as you normally would for work, and go about your day. If you can sneak in a small nap during the day this is the ideal scenario. Go to bed early the night after you were late to get back on track.

 You will find when you get enough sleep you will arouse without the need for an alarm. And when you do wake up, you won’t need to drink a pot of coffee to feel useful.
