Want to grow your hair long as quickly as possible?
Read my guide to find out how.
While there is no definitive and guaranteed way of growing your hair longer in just a few short weeks or months, there are things you can do to 'aid' the process. If you want to see results as soon as possible, then it is advisable to make a routine and stick to it.
The first step in the growing process is to analyse the current condition of your hair. Is it thin, thick, straight, curly or even wirey? Acknowledging the state of your hair is the initial way of moving forward. By removing any dead ends, or hair that feels like straw from too much chemical processing, this could be the fresh start your hair needs. Extremely damaged hair may even benefit from being shaven off, to let the new or 'virgin' growth come through.
The second stage is to nourish. This includes both your body and mind. A well balanced diet of fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, etc), along with eggs and fish or lean meat (tofu or a similar meat substitute if you're a vegetarian) is ideal. You can include dairy products if you enjoy milk, yoghurt and cheese. This diet is optimal for ensuring you are feeding yourself with the relevant minerals and nutrients. A healthy head of hair is achievable if your body is being fed the right foods.
Thirdly, condition. A good conditioner will do more than just add shine. There are many deep conditioning treatments on the market which can help to restore some of the texture of your hair. The more natural, the better. Focus on ones free from too many chemicals - in fact one of the best available is coconut oil. Regular use of coconut oil if left on overnight for example, has been shown to help prevent protein loss from your hair when wet combing. It will also leave your hair feeling strong, smooth and with an incredible shine. You can of course use any other conditioning treatment, but the more natural it is, the better results you will see overall.
Massage into your scalp any deep conditioning treatment you use with your fingertips, ensuring that you cover the whole of your head in sweeping movements. This is not only relaxing, but also stimulating for your hair follicles. Any massage of the scalp would be beneficial in helping hair grow.
The fourth stage, is to be patient. Yes, it’s obvious - but it’s the only way to ensure you get rid of that awful haircut that’s been forced upon you by an overbearing hairdresser who decided to get a bit too ‘scissor happy’ in the name of style. If you want classic long hair, then it is best to just leave it. No trims, no dyes, no strenuous chemicals or processing your hair. Just a hair care routine that will leave your hair looking fabulous.
Hair growth is around half an inch a month, which roughly translates to six inches a year. So bear in mind, if you have a pixie cut it could take years for you to grow your hair down to your waist. It all depends on your starting point and your goal. But be realistic and stay determined, and you’ll get there.
