How to increase your metabolism function

Metabolism is the process that converts basic food into energy. Your metabolism is the most important factor when trying to lose weight. The problem is, not everyone is lucky enough to have the best metabolism. So, you should try to find any way possible to increase the functionality of your metabolism.

Step 1

Know your BMR. BMR stands for Basal Metabolic rate. BMR is the amount of daily energy expended while at a constant rest. You can calculate your BMR with the help of a nutritionist. Knowing your BMR is essential for metabolism function.

Step 2

Take herbs that help metabolic function. Alfalfa, kelp, chickweed and burdock root can all help to improve the function of your metabolism by getting rid of food cravings and breaking down fat molecules. They also help to get rid of excess water build-up.

Step 3

Do not starve your body. Many people believe that by not eating, they can get skinny. Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. When you starve your body, you are robbing it of key nutrients that help metabolic function. You can actually slow your metabolism down by not eating. Try to eat smaller portions more frequently throughout the day.

Step 4

Add key vitamins to your diet. Vitamin B3, B5, B6, vitamin C and Chromium can all help speed up your metabolism and improve your overall metabolic function. Try to eat vitamins with food so you're body can absorb them more effectively.

Step 5

Do more cardiovascular exercise. Doing cardio helps improve your BMR. If You can do 10 to 20 minutes of cardiovascular exercise each day, you can help aid your body in burning calories while simultaneously improving your BMR.

Step 6

Drink plenty of water. The importance of water is way underrated when it comes to dieting. Drinking more water will help your body flush out toxins that could slow your metabolism down. Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water daily, but mainly before and after meals.

Step 7

Don't forget breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for many reasons. You should eat mainly fruits and vegetables with a decent amount of protein. Most people think by not eating breakfast they are doing their body good, this is false. You are stressing your metabolism out by not eating breakfast. This doesn't mean you should start eating donuts every morning, but even eating donuts in the morning would be better for your metabolism than not eating at all.
