How to make Eggs (Eggies) in a Basket

By | Dec 3, 2009 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

If you've got a lot of bread and eggs available, here's a tasty breakfast recipe that's very simple and fun to make. Kids love punching out the holes from the bread.

Things You Will Need

Eggs Bread Cup Skillet/Pan Butter/Oil Salt Pepper

Step 1

Take a slice of bread and make a hole in the center of it using a cup. Most cups are a little too big for the job and will make gigantic holes, so instead try to use a teacup, shot glass, or wine cup.

Step 2

Heat the pan to medium high and spread some butter or oil. You want to use just as much oil as necessary to keep the eggs from sticking.

Step 3

Place the bread in the pan and crack the egg into the hole in the center of the bread. You may want to practice cracking an egg beforehand because if any egg shells get into the egg, it's going to be hard to take it back out.

Step 4

Add some pepper and salt to taste. Flip the bread and egg once the bottom is browned (usually a couple minutes). You can even make a mini omelette in the bread. Just add some green peppers and cheese on top of the egg after you add the egg.

Step 5

With the left over circles of the bread, you can either cook them over the skillet, or toast them in a toaster oven. They work great for jam.
That's it, serve with some other breakfast items like bacon, ham, or potatoes and orange juice.
