Firstly, your cooking time will be about 3 hours. Be sure that this time is not reduced as one of the keys to fantastic; mouth watering chilli, is cooking time. This recipe will be straight forward and very simple to follow if you have everything ready, so be sure to have everything you need before hand.

Things You Will Need

2 teaspoons of oil

1 pound of ground beef

1/2 pound of ground pork

2 large onions (diced)

3 large tomatoes or (2 cans of diced tomatoes)

1/4 cup of ketchup *important ingredient*

1 can of (drained) red kidney beans (540mL per can usually)

2 tablsp Ground black pepper

1 tablsp Salt

2 packs of chilli seasoning mix (40 grams per pack usually) * important ingredient*

1 red pepper (diced)

1 clove of garlic (optional)

3 chilli peppers (dried)

Sprig of thyme

4 cups of water

Step 1

Start by browning off your ground beef and pork in a large frying pan. Be sure not to overload your frying pan as you want your ground beef to be seared and browned well.

Drain any excess oil from ground meat. With the ground beef and pork mixed together in the frying pan add the packaged chilli seasoning mix. Then stir in with the stove on med heat for 4 to 5 minutes…… then set aside.

Step 2

In a large cooking pot add the oil and the 2 diced up large onions. Cook until translucent.

Add the ground beef and ground pork to the large cooking pot with the sautéed onions.

Add 1 can of red kidney beans. Add the can of tomatoes or 3 large diced up tomatoes.

Add 4 cups of water now. Stir well and add all other items except the red pepper. You should add the red pepper in the last 1/2 hour of cooking in order for it to remain tasty.

Step 3

Once everything is in the pot, fully submersed in the 4 cups of water, you can now turn the stove heat up to medium- high and let cook, uncovered for two hours. Stir occasionally. After the two hour period check your water level. Don't let your chilli boil down to a paste. You want a more bubbling lava consistency at the end .so add a touch of water if necessary. Once you have inspected your chilli and rejoiced in its delicious, soothing aroma. Turn the heat down to low and let it cook for the rest of the allotted time. Remember cooking time is 3 hours from -start heat to end heat.
