How to make money flipping niche domains

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Buy and selling domains or domain flipping can be a profitable business to get into. One way people make money with domains, is by buyng expired domains. These are domains that have been previously registered and they were not renewed by the owner.

The domain may have had a website on it and it might even still get traffic as it has other links pointing to it. These domains are readily snapped up by domainers who by them purely for the existing traffic and they usually just throw up a page of advertisements and then they just sit back and collect the revenue.

Often these domain names don't have any value other than the existing links. Many good names are also registered and eventually let go by the owner. Domain companies are starting to keep the better names and sell them for a higher price, than the usual $10 registration fee.

This can be good and bad for domain buyers. On one hand it is increasingly difficult to buy good domain names at registration cost, but it also allows you to spend a little more money for a domain and find a quality name for your website.

One way I have been able to make money is by buying some decent names in a niche that I am interested in. You can choose basically any niche that you want and I am sure you can have success with this strategy. Most domainers buy domains and then try to sell to other domainers on domain forums and related websites.

I pick a niche that I am interested in and active online in the community like "SEO" for example. Then I go to Snapnames register for daily email alerts for any domains that have "SEO" in it. There are many services that can send you lists of expiring domains, they are often huge though and it can take hours to go through.

This is why I just stick to a few niches that I am interested in. I go through the lists with the names that contain my keywords amd I see if there is anything worth buying. Many of the starting prices on the names at Snapnames are for around $59. Much higher than the flat registration fee, but the advantage is you can find some great names.

I buy the names I am interested in and then I try to flip them on forums and free classifieds websites in that particular niche. Since you aren't selling to domainers who only look at a few factors in a domain name for their potential value, but to people to have a strong interest in that niche.

I don't try and sell the names for too much more than I pay for them. Say if I buy it for $60, I might try and sell it for $160. It's not really a lot of work, so $100 profit from just sending a few emails back and forth between potential buyers is an easy way to make a bit of money.
