How to make money with dating affiliates
I started building websites for profit in 2006 and making money from affiliate marketing. One of the most successful verticals I have made money from was dating. During the past few years a number of free sites have started and many people, including myself thought it was the end of the paid dating market.
Social networks were also expected to take over dating websites, but again that hasn't happened. During the past economic downturn, my income from dating affiliates went down a little, but more recently it has started to bounce back again.
There are a number of reasons why dating affiliates work better than other affiliate programs. Dating websites are usually membership based. So when a user of your website clicks on your affiliate link and joins the dating site, you usually make a percentage every time the membership is renewed (usually monthly), rather than just a single sale like most affiliate programs. Often people who sign up for memberships are automatically rebilled with their credit card and they tend to keep the membership going even though they might not actively use the service. I am sure that this is how gyms and fitness clubs make their money.
I have been using Friend Finder for a couple of years now and I make a few hundred dollars from them every month. This is purely passive income. I know I have some links out there on my sites, but I don't do any maintenance on them. Friendfinder also has a number of niche dating websites like sites for different racial groups and religions. I have also had a number of other webmasters join the program using my affiliate links, which I then a percentage of all of their earnings.
So why do people continue to join paid dating sites, if there are free ones available? I don't know the answer to this. I do know that the number of males to females who pay for a dating site membership is at least double or triple.
I run mostly travel related websites and dating affiliates seem to work well on them. I don't know why that it is, but it's working for me!. I don't see many other travel websites that run dating affiliates. It was something that I tried fairly early on and dating affiliates have performed better than any other affiliate programs that I have tried.
So if you have never tried using dating affiliates on your websites, I suggest giving them a try. I f you don't see any signups, in a few days, you will quickly know that it's not for your site. What do you have to lose?
