Christmas is a busy time for everyone. It starts with buying the Christmas cards and hours spent writing special warm messages inside for your loved ones. Or are you one of the guilty people who just write "To xx Merry Xmas love from xxx". I hate that type of card; why do they even bother to buy and send you one if that's all they can write. It shows you, just how much you mean to them. In other words they are doing it because they feel it is expected of them.
Make Christmas messages easier
Instead of doing the above; spend ten minutes and type three or four little stories:
Make one for distant friends etc
One for family etc
One warmer message for loved ones
Types of messages
Ask after their health and family for- acquaintances
- Share and tell them something about what you have been doing with - closer ones
- Ask questions and share special things with - loved ones
Now instead of sending a mundane card insert the typed messages inside, that best suit the people you are sending cards to.
This will only take you a few minutes to set up and will add a wealth of meaning to the person receiving it at the other end. You may even receive a nice message with their reply.
Christmas Gift Shopping
With that out of the way now you have to start shopping for gifts and presents for people that do this more out of duty, instead of giving with the thought of Christmas in their minds. Instead of spending time and money on this type of gift; why not talk to them 2 or 3 months before Christmas. Suggest that you all stop buying gifts and have a drink together instead. This will save you a lot of time and money at this expensive time of year. Or you could make that special Christmas gift with your own hands, instead of buying an impersonal gift.
Start your shopping at after Christmas Sales
It is too late for this Christmas at time of writing this. However when this Christmas is over, go to the after Christmas store sales and buy the decorations while on special. Buy anything that you can use for Birthday or the next Christmas gifts. Never buy electrical goods early or by the time you give the gift to someone it may be out of warranty.
Prepare the fiddly bits and pieces early
Decorations can be made months ahead. Then depending on your situation and beliefs put up at the beginning of December or later if you prefer. The earlier the better so there is no last minute rush, this is also a great time to check out your Christmas lights and make sure they are all working.
A word of caution: Beware of the dangers of outside Christmas lights. People have been electrocuted because they forget about the dangers of mixing electricity and water from the garden hose.
Many of the nibbles and savories can be prepared several weeks before Christmas; especially the ones that can be frozen. Then you could make the rum balls, white Christmas all those goodies a few days early.
The decision to have a hot or cold Christmas dinner always causes frustration. Some want the traditional hot meal while others want a simple hassle free cold dinner so everyone can relax on the day.
With that decision made now you have to delegate. Make it a family Christmas dinner by everyone doing their little bit. If the whole family contributes by providing something towards the event it will be less work for the hostess. So salads and meats, fish, and chicken dishes are not doubled up, ask what dish each person wants to bring. Some may prefer to bring the drinks, although most people usually front up with their own drinks these days. With these details out of the way you can all relax and look forward to a hassle free Christmas.
Then again if it is a family occasion it may not go off as smoothly as you would like. It is funny though how things can get out of hand when families get together. I hope this does not happen this year at your special Christmas Dinner.
I hope that this will help you to make this Family Christmas Dinner Celebrations easier for everyone year.
I would like to wish you all a very .
Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year
Now that we have sorted the Family Christmas out, I just wanted to make sure that you don't forget to give your pets a gift for Christmas too.
That's right they love to have special gifts of toys or christmas treats too just like the rest of the family.
