How to prevent getting sick

By | Nov 14, 2009 | 1 Comments | Rating: 0

I hate being sick, staying home is fun until there is nothing left on tv except soaps. So I try my best to prevent it when possible. I work in a hospital so my chances of getting sick are a lot higher then the average. Here are a few tips to avoid being stuck at home.

1. Make sure you get enough sleep, 8 hours is perfect.

2. Wash your hands. Not just running your hands under the water. You want hot water ( as hot as you can handle) and soap, you should be washing your hands for 2 minutes.

3. Make sure you drink enough fluids. Try to drink 8 glasses of water each day.

4. Eat all your fruits and veggies, you need all these nutrients to fight off colds.

5. If you don't get enough fruits and veggies in your diet make sure you take a multi-vitamin.

6. Never touch your face. Not your nose, eyes or mouth. Unless you know that your hands are clean, this is how most viruses spread.

7. Don't eat shared food. If your work has a bowl of popcorn or chips out for everyone to share, avoid it like the plague. People may not have washed there hands before digging around for the perfect chip!

8. Avoid being in contact with people who are already sick. You can contract there cold simply by touching something that they have touched then rubbing your eyes, its just not worth it.

9. Always carry around hand sanitizer, after you enter your debit code or sign a visa bill you should always sanitize your hands. They never clean the pen and who knows if the person before you washed there hands after the bathroom.

10. Relax, if you feel like your getting sick take it easy. Have a cup of tea and just rest.
