Rummage sales are fun for both the people buying and selling. The people selling their items can make money as well as get rid of things that they no longer need or want. People that go to rummage sales to buy things are getting great deals on items that they want.

Things You Will Need

Step 1

The first thing you have to remember when you are going to rummage sales is that you need to categorize things in an order of things you want and things that you need. For an example; a neat looking candle may be something that you might want. Body wash is something that you will probably need. Some people may sell their body wash at a rummage sale if they do not like it after one use. This would be the most perfect opportunity for you to purchase that body wash that you may need.

Step 2

Secondly, think about how much money you are saving by buying items at a rummage sale. Sure, that two dollar outfit may seem expensive at a rummage sale, but if it doesn't have any stains on it, then you are saving a lot of money. By not purchasing at a clothing store will save you a lot of money. Many times you can find the exact same outfit at a high priced clothing store for $20 and find the exact same outfit at a rummage sale for $3. When you come across an opportunity like that it is definitely a no brainer.

Step 3

Look in your local newspaper or online for different rummage sales and make a list of all the ones that are interesting to you. If you find a rummage sale that only has one category of things in it and you are not interested in it then don't waste your time stopping. Many fishermen or hunters may have sales if they no longer are into that hobby. If you are looking for kids clothes then this probably isn't the place where you want to stop. However, spending money on new hunting equipment at your local hunting store may cost you your entire wallet. It is a smart idea to check out some hunting rummage sales before you decide to go new.

Step 4

Arriving at opening will give you an advantage to get that item that you really want. Arriving at the rummage sale close to the end will help you get some good deals as well. People may be more willing to just give you items that they really want to get rid of. The may take their items to Goodwill or another thrift store. By taking the items for them you are saving them a trip.

Step 5

Don't be afraid to wheel and deal. Most of the time, the sellers will increase prices on their items simply because they know they will be talked down in price.

Step 6

Volunteer to clean out fore closured homes. Although you have to get rid of everything in the house, you may able to find some valuable items such as antiques or collectables. Having your own rummage sale will greatly help you as well. Array
