The items in the "Things you need" list are all items that can be cooridinated in with a particular type of theme.

A Theme can be a color Scheme or a Character theme

You can do a theme by color and coordinate all of the items i have listed and implement them into your color scheme.

A lot of people center a theme around the cake. This is a good idea, or you can center the theme around a specific gender color like Yellow,Blue, or pink.

A great Color theme is "Think Pink" you can add this on your invites and let guests know the theme is Pink, and that all pink items are welcomed.

You can use pink balloons,tablecloths,centerpieces and even make a "pink punch". I would not however make the whole cake pink, thats just overkill. Maybe a white cake with some pink trim.

You can purchase the "Balloon Time" kits at walmart and other stores. It comes with a lot of different colored balloons and a helium container. The problem is that there are not too many of one color balloon in the kit, you may have to buy your specific color of balloon for your party. You can also visit a party store and they will even have balloons with writing on them like "congratulations" and "Its a girl" things of that nature.

Some themes ideas are as follows:

Think Pink...an all pink theme

Blues Clues, can be Blue for the boy party

A Ducky theme..You could have yellow ducks on your baby shower cake and all accessories.

Yellow Theme: this is a non gender specific color , if the mom to be isn't sure what her baby's gender will be.

Bo Peep, lambs and sheep

Winnie the Pooh

Polka Dots

Teddy Bears

Lady Bugs

Noahs Ark

Prince

If you don't want a theme in particular, you could just go with coordinating napkins, plates and balloons, it really depends on how much money you want to spend .

Once you decide on a theme, make a list of what you want to include in that theme , for instance

How many tables will you need to decorate?

How many Balloons do you want to use?

How many table centerpieces do you need?

Do you want napkins and coordinating plates and tablecloths to go with your centerpieces?

Do you want to purchase a baby shower banner?

Baby shower signs ?

It really is up to you how you want to coordinate things, it makes your party place look so beautiful when everything comes together.
