With the Christmas holidays just around the corner, wouldn't it be nice to display a hummel nativity scene?  These have become very popular at this time of year. Many feel they are so beautiful and innocent looking with great detail, that they display them all year round.

Adding to a collection of nativity scenes is a tradition for many families. Many children would get a gift of a new figurine each year to add to the growing scene. This would be a treasured tradition and would be passed on to the next generation. As a child, I would receive one as a gift, either for the Nativity scene or as a Christmas ornament.

Eventually the set was given away as all of us kids left home, which I still regret to this day.

If you are trying to think of what to get a relative or someone who seems to have everything, why not start them off with a few Hummel Nativity Figurines? These would make great gifts, and you could add to it each year. Plus these have become highly collectible, adding value.

These charming figurines and statues make a great Christmas gift for older children as well as adults who collect them. You can find a different one each year. If you stick with the Hummel Nativity figurines, then you pretty well have your Christmas shopping wrapped up for each year! There is no limit to the different figurines that can go into these Nativity scenes.

Either way they will be an appreciated gift. The Nativity Set basic 3 piece set includes Jesus, Mary and Joseph. They are small and do not take up much room, actually measuring at approximately 4 inches.

As a child, my Grandma would have a wooden tray that she would keep this set on, and it came out at the same time as all the Christmas decorations and then there would be the hunt for a addition to the set.

This is another spot you can try to find the collectible figurines, but make sure and purchase through someone with good feedback, and check the completed sales to see what type of price they have been selling for, so that you don't pay too much.

Hummel Store

There are many online stores that are dedicated to the Hummel figurines and any that are associated with the holidays. But get started now, so that you can get your own Nativity set started or get one started for a great Christmas gift this year.

Hummel Figurines - How they Got Started

Franz Goebel, who was a manufacturer of porcelain in Germany at the time, created these beautiful little Hummels from the drawings of Sister Maria, who was a German nun. Her drawings were able to capture that look of innocence of a child, and this makes the hummel figurines so appealing.

They have not gone out of style, and many people have become serious collectors of these Hummel figurines. There are books on the values of them and which ones have gained in value. The Nativity Scene is the more traditional Hummel Nativity Figurines.

But if you are just starting out, and want to purchase a Hummel Nativity Scene, then you will enjoy the detail and beauty of these little figurines, and even in this electronic age, a Hummel Nativity Figurine will still be a much appreciated Christmas gift this year.
