Hypnosis induction
Hypnosis is usually induced by hypnotic induction, commonly composed of preliminary instructions and suggestions. When a hypnotist wants to bring the subject into hypnosis state, he has to follow a specific hypnotic or hypnosis induction technique.
The subject or patient cannot be taken directly into hypnosis state unless the hypnosis induction technique is used. There are several hypnosis induction techniques used by different hypnotherapist.
The most influential and 'original' hypnosis induction is the 'eye-fixation' technique adopted by James Braid. Braid's hypnosis induction method consists of a bright object, a silver or golden watch for instance. The bright object is held in front of the subject at a certain distance and in a specific manner so that the subject easily maintains a steady fixed stare at the object. He is asked to concentrate totally on that object.
If the procedure is properly followed and the patient or subject fully cooperates, the hypnosis sleep can be induced. This 'eye-fixation' method later met with several variations and alternatives and new hypnosis induction techniques were developed.
According to other experts, most of the hypnotic techniques call for muscular relaxation, reclining posture, and optical fixation followed by eye closure.
There are different hypnosis induction techniques or methods, like Arm Levitation Method, Arm-Drop Method, Association Method, Bionic Arm Method, Confusion Method, Dave Elman Method, Direct Gaze Method, Eye Fixation with Imagery Method, fixation Object Method, Forest and Stream Method, Gil Boyne Method of Conditioning, Hand Shake Method, Hand to Face Method, Hands Closing Together, Hands Pressing down Method, Instantaneous Method, Non-verbal Method, Rapid Method, Television Imagination Method, Raid Method for Children, Rapid Method Permissive, etc.
Among these methods, perhaps the most useful method of hypnosis induction is self-hypnosis. Self-hypnosis can be learned and applied by any one.
While you try self-hypnosis, follow the hypnosis induction method that suits you more. During the process, rather than forcing the induction to happen, let it happen naturally as a result of your efforts. Moreover, don't be eager to look for the special feeling or symptoms which signify your hypnosis state. If you are doing all the steps as you have learned, the hypnosis induction will certainly happen which will take you to the desired hypnosis 'sleep'.
When you intend to learn self-hypnosis, you have to take professional help. If you follow the instruction carefully and practice the techniques patiently and persistently, you will be able to achieve the desired level of self-hypnosis.
While practicing, you have to follow strictly all the criteria required to attain the hypnosis state, like the comfortable posture, peaceful environment, mental and physical readiness, etc.
The best hypnosis induction method or technique is the one which suits you more and which you find easy and practical to follow. Once you select the right hypnosis induction method, you have to follow carefully the next steps which are auto-suggestions where you have to suggest the predetermined goals to your subconscious mind. And finally, you have to follow the proper awakening phase of the hypnosis session where you have to come out of the hypnosis state. With a professional help, you will certainly be able to learn and apply self-hypnosis successfully.
