Hypnotherapy and Alcohol

By | Jun 29, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Hypnotherapy (or hypnosis) is a natural, highly relaxed state of mind somewhere between sleep and wakefulness. Hypnotherapy offers a powerful tool to access the subconscious mind, a force which lies behind many of your actions, thoughts and behaviors. By accessing your subconscious, we're able to facilitate the desired changes.

Many smokers are consciously aware that smoking is a pointless, horrible habit that causes endless damage, but this conscious knowledge often fails to suppress our subconscious desire to smoke. We can use hypnosis to train the subconscious to come into line with the conscious goal of not smoking, helping to facilitate your desire to become a non-smoker.

Hypnosis also has the potential to access harmful memories or habits, giving you the power to release yourself from the negative mind-sets that impede you from living the life you want to live. In the hypnotic state, you are more receptive to new ideas and can more effectively process the emotions tied to the behaviors you want to change. Once your subconscious accepts this new behavior, you can seamlessly incorporate it into your conscious, everyday state of being. If you have made up your mind up about making a positive change, hypnotherapy can put you on the fast-track to making the changes you wish to see in your life and to enjoy all the related benefits

It's often the case that clients go through a relationship breakdown or experience a death and it's during these tough periods that drinking in excess becomes a source to reduce 'the pressure' or to 'take the edge off'. This is where the nasty habit of drinking too much is formed regardless of how well we cope or get over these issues down the track.

Hypnosis and hypnotherapy are powerful tools which help to un-train the unconscious and conscious parts of our minds so that we can opt for healthier means and mechanisms to reduce stress and tension. Wouldn't we much prefer to go for a walk for 15 minutes every day or to opt for a weekly massage with the money saved from choosing not to drink in excess?

It should be noted that alcohol although much enjoyed in moderation by many, in excess becomes a poisons which not only poisons our physical body, but also our self esteem and self identity. At Hypnotherapy Melbourne, the client and therapist work towards setting realistic, positive and achievable goals and the hypnosis and hypnotherapy emphasizes and supports this strategy. It should be noted that the goals are realistic in nature to begin with so that we see wins and boosts to self esteem and self worth when they are easily achieved quickly.

This final goal may be complete withdrawal from alcohol but for many, it is simply a goal to cut back on consumption. This is usually not an option for severe alcoholism but for those with moderate alcohol problems cutting back is very achievable. Hypnosis for alcohol can be used to help transition the new, healthier lifestyle choices into our subconscious and unconscious programming to help deliver the wanted, healthier changes.
