Idaho Zoos

Coyotes Will Bite

If you like Zoos and will be visiting Idaho then there are a few options for you. Zoos in Idaho tend to be smaller than and not nearly as large as popular zoos such as the zoo in San Diego, California.

Ross Park Zoo -Pocatello

The Ross Park Zoo is located in Pocatello, Idaho. It is a very small zoo. The Zoo is no where near the same caliber of bigger zoos but if you truly love animals then the Ross Park Zoo in Pocatello is a must see.

They have a limited amount of animals including peacocks walking around with the visitors. The highlight of the Ross Park Zoo was Charlie the bear who finally died. Charlie was always there my entire life. It is sad that he died but they have a replacement and are building a memorial to Charlie.

Tautphaus Park Zoo- Idaho Falls

The Tautphaus Park Zoo in Idaho Falls has more animals to see then the Ross Park Zoo in Pocatello. Recently I went to the Tautphaus Park Zoo. My favorite animals were probably the penguins and the sea otters. The Lions were posing for the visitors too.

The Tautphaus Park Zoo is definitely worth a few hours of your time. The Tautphaus Park Zoo is very nice to visit.

The gift shop at the Tautphaus park zoo is cramped and they had no hats for adults. The Boise Zoo had a wide variety of hats, visors, and head covers for adults. Even the Pocatello Zoo had a few hats for adults.

Zoo Boise- Boise

Zoo Boise is a great Zoo for Idaho. The huge turtles and the the penguins were my favorite. The Zoo in Boise is larger than the other two zoos in Pocatello and Idaho Falls although Idaho Falls is close.

Which Idaho Zoo Is Best?

I have been to all three of these Zoos in Idaho this year. My favorite would have to be the Idaho Falls Zoo. Most people prefer either the Boise Zoo or the one in Idaho Falls.

You best bet would be to go to all three zoos and make up your own mind. At Boise they have a once day feeding session where you can pay $3.00 and feed the giraffes a biscuit. What kid wouldn't like feeding a giraffe out of their own hand?

The Boise Zoo is better funded thus making it the winner of the three. Idaho Falls has a great zoo and the Ross Park Zoo in Pocatello is just ok.

Regardless of which zoo you choose you will have fun. Even the little old Ross Park Zoo in Pocatello is a lot of fun. It is a small Zoo and you will sweat walking around if it is a hot day but it is still worth it to go there.

The more visitors to zoos the better they are funded and thus the more animals they can showcase to the visitors of the zoo.

Zoos are fun and make sure you take your camera.

Ah, good times at Tautphaus Park. They have a small community park nearby with a slide that, last time I went, had a huge gap between the end of the slide and the ground. It was fun, but I left pretty bruised. ;)

It's been a while, but I distinctly remember having a pretty good time with a small monkey - it was either a marmoset or a tamarin. :)
I need to make an Idaho Falls trip again one of these days. I definitely loved this article.
