Ideas For Finding Cheap Wedding Supplies

With the world in the midst of a global recession, those happy couples about to get married are having to watch what they spend on their big day. To cut back on your costs you need to look at the major parts of the budget – the venue and the wedding supplies. If you can find ways to have the day of your dreams without the expense of your nightmares you can relax and enjoy the day that much more.

Unusual wedding venues can save you heaps on the exorbitant costs some hotels and banqueting halls want to charge you. Think about your local parks or beaches or even museums or the family home. Catering at the venue is another huge overhead. Consider the following ways to keep food costs down: ask family and friends to bring finger food and other dishes, invite less people to the wedding breakfast and have a large party in the evening or limit the number of courses to just the main meal and cake.

When it comes to wedding reception supplies, you need to be firm with yourself and highlight the parts of the wedding budget that are the most important to you. Everybody would like to arrive in a horse drawn carriage and have endless arrangements of red roses all over the place but unless you have a money tree in your garden, you will need to prioritise. Is what you will eat top of your list? Are the centrepieces? Is the cake?

Look at areas where you can substitute expensive items for more inexpensive wedding supplies. Flowers are a prime example. Fresh flowers cost a bundle, so consider silk flowers or switching out your floral table arrangements for cheaper ones made with candles. These will be just as elegant and romantic but can be made for a lot less money, especially if you have a go at putting them together yourself.

Renting wedding supplies is another good option. You may be able to find a wedding centrepiece that is more flamboyant and up your street that you can rent for a reasonable price rather than trying to buy it and end up stuck with it sitting in your garage for years to come. The wedding clothes such as the bride's dress and groom's suit can also be rented although brides can be quite resistant to this.

The photographer is another key cost in the wedding supplies budget. You can curb this cost by have less pictures taken. It is always worth having some professional shots done though you can leave some of the more relaxed photos of the guests to the guests themselves. Just buy a batch of disposable cameras, leave them around the venue and encourage everyone to get snap happy.

Planning and prioritising is the key to keeping your wedding budget within reasonable limits. There is no need to worry that by spending less your day will be any less special. It won't!
