You can really explore different design ideas to get a functional piece that still coordinates with your room. Here are a few ideas for cheap window treatments.

Go with items that really make a big impact. You want this to work with your overall design style and taste. You don't want your cheap window treatments to actually look cheap. In fact, it might come off as a lot more expensive than what you see in the stores. For instance, for a retro or teen room you could find a vintage string or beaded curtain. You could even try painting canvas curtains with a splatter effect. This will almost look like modern art. You might even be able to repurpose some of your own clothes. Look for oversized scarves. You could use belts as a western tie back. Gather up vintage buttons or pieces of jewelry. You could use these on cornice boxes or as embellishments on your curtains. Strands of pearls can also be used as elegant tiebacks. In order to save a lot of money on decorating you really need to think outside of the box and start repurposing the items that you really love into useful, functional pieces.
