Ideas for Distributing Posters Yourself
Once you have a fresh stack of printed posters, you are ready to pass them out. The distribution of your posters is the culmination of all of your efforts, poster designing and poster printing; however, the where's and how's of distribution may be a bit confounding. You could hire a poster distribution team, or get them out on the streets yourself. Here are a few ideas if you would like to try do-it-yourself poster distribution.
1. Mail posters right to your target audience
Getting your posters into the living room of prospects can get them read. Create a mailing list and either send them out or have your poster printing company send them directly.
2. Pass them out by hand
You can either stand at the entrances of stores to hand out your posters or go door-to-door. These tactics are not always appreciated if you are in the wrong neighborhood, though, so do some research and make sure that you are handing out posters to your target audience.
3. Hang posters all over town, on the same day
For the biggest impact, hang your poster printing pieces in grocery stores, on bulletin boards, and restaurant fronts; and hang them all in the same day. This will flood your location with your message. Consumers have to see a message at least 3 times and within a relatively short amount of time to remember it. A single-day poster printing campaign is definitely one way to be memorable.
4. Print more smaller posters
Bigger posters may draw attention to itself, but several smaller posters cost less and draw attention to your message. Smaller posters will also go farther when you are considering locations. Most store owners will agree to let you hang your poster in their window if it is a standard size, but one that takes up the entire window will more than likely get turned down.
5. Complete a new poster printing each month
To keep your message fresh on consumers' minds, print and hang a new round of posters all over town each month. In this way, you can keep your audience's attention and show of your design savvy.
6. Leave your posters for free picking
If you have a stack of posters at several department stores, people have an option to pick them up. The more your poster is present in target locations, the more likely they will be read, so be sure to order enough from your poster printing company.
7. Use a stapler!
When hang up your posters on bulletin boards, consider an alternative method to tacks. A staple gun is fun and easy to use, and staples do not fall off or walk away as easily as a thumb tack.
Never forget that you must have a good poster before you distribute them. Take your time with the poster printing process. A great poster, well-distributed will find its target audience and get your message out effectively.
