Ignorance is Bliss if you Avoid Heroin Treatment

By | 1 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Anyone who is addicted to heroin and is doing everything they can to stick their head in the sand and avoid going to rehab is in denial. This happens with just about every drug addict while they are actively using drugs until they reach a point of surrender and find a way to break through their denial.

But there are another group of heroin addicts for which ignorance is bliss because they do not really believe that a solution exists for them. They may have heard of drug rehab or heard of other possible solutions for those who are addicted to drugs, but for one reason or another they do not really believe that these solutions could ever work for them. Therefore they do not seek out heroin treatment and try to change their life for the better. They stay stuck in their cycle of addiction and do not venture to try and change on such a massive scale. Of course the nature of drug addiction is that it gets worse over time. This is true of just about any type of addiction to any type of drug, including heroin. At first the drug is enjoyable and times are good. Later on the drug use turns into a habit and of course the frequency and amount used tends to go up and up. Eventually it is full blown addiction and the addict has to use more and more all the time in order to simply avoid being sick. This is the progression of the disease and it will go this way for pretty much any drug addict, regardless of what drug they are using. The solution of course it to interrupt the cycle and find a way to get treatment and experience abstinence. It is only then that a person can start any sort of new life in which they find a new way to live without drugs and alcohol. For most people, this will take a trip to rehab at the minimum, and in other cases, it might even take long term treatment in order to escape the clutches of addiction. Some people need to live in treatment for several months or even years in order to finally experience success and abstinence from drugs. Some addicts do not know that a solution even exists. This is unfortunate because anyone has the potential to get clean and find this new life, if they only open up to the possibility. The key is that they have to get miserable enough to surrender to the idea of real change. It is fear that holds us back from making this change, and it is misery that breaks us down to a point where we no longer care about the fear. The addict must drop their fear and face the idea of real change. They must abandon their self in favor of a new life.
