Improve your Trading with Forex Simulators not Demo ACs
Learning how to trade profitably can take a long time. It is possible to develop a winning strategy
in a short time but developing your psychological fortitude requires that you
be exposed to different market conditions and scenarios. This experience can help you to learn how to
be disciplined even while trading under pressure. While demo accounts can facilitate risk free training, the trader
must wait for the market to play out each move, which can take days or months.
As with most things, practicing your trading is going to help you make improvement but using a demo account for this purpose can make the process prohibitively long. Forex simulators allow the forex trader to upload historical trading data and practice trading as if they had gone back in time. This makes forex simulators incredibly powerful because the market continuously repeats itself and so if you can trade a particular setup well, you will be doubly prepared when the opportunity presents itself again. Simulators include features to allow for the rewinding, redoing and reviewing of trades, thus allowing for trading strategies to be refined in a controlled way. Some simulators, like ForexTester, will even allow you to apply fast-forwarding, to simulate trading large time intervals in only a matter of minutes.
Like trading with demo accounts, forex simulators can't simulate the psychological pressures of trading with real money on a live account. This is so because subconsciously the trader knows that real funds are not at risk and so the trading experience is more relax. Put another way, the absence of the fear of loss makes executing good trades much easier.
Simulated trading can never fully prepare a forex trader for all that he will encounter in the market. For one, historical data is sterile of the market sentiments that had helped to cause the price movements, so in a way your forex training is taken out of context. Notwithstanding, few training tools are better than forex simulators at helping to prepare and train forex traders. Especially considering that months of trading experience can be compressed into a few hours of training.
