Halogen heaters are great to use both indoors and outdoors. Indoors they make great portable heaters, useful for providing additional heat when central heating is not sufficient or if you want to turn your central heating off. Outdoors, they're great to use on patios or anywhere you do any outdoor entertaining.

Typically, outdoor halogen heaters are useful to provide additional heat during the cooler evening hours. Halogen heaters used outdoors are usually made so that they are fairly easy to move around, oftentimes with small wheels attached to the base of the heater so that they can simply be wheeled from one location to another. A typical outdoor halogen heater has a base, a tall neck and then a mushroom shaped top. The mushroom shaped top is very useful for distributing heat in a circular radius. The heat bounces off the inside of the mushroom top and circulates to the immediate area. Another great thing with using halogen heaters outdoors is that because they use halogen goal is to provide heat they also can provide additional light. Of course, you do need to sit fairly close to the heater in order to be in direct line of the heat that emanates from it.

Another plus with this type of heater is that it is very cheap to operate. Halogen lightbulbs use very little electricity especially when compared to other forms of heating such as electric coils that are commonly used in electric radiators.

When it comes to safety, halogen heaters are also very safe to operate. Indoor halogen heaters usually are encased in metal that does not heat up but stays cool to the touch. These heaters also have built in safety devices whereby if they are tipped over they will immediately turn off.
