InfoBarrel Banners - Increase Your InfoBarrel Referrals

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 2 14

A couple of months ago someone posted a request on the forum for some up-to-date InfoBarrel banners, for use as referral images on author websites and blogs, as a way to increase referral clickthroughs to the site. While there are some existing banners available from InfoBarrel themselves, they are somewhat lacking in graphical flair.

Since graphics are something I do on a daily basis, I offered to throw something together, and the resulting banners were very well received. I had intended to create further designs, and expand the range of sizes available, before posting them here but it seems I never have enough time for these things. So without further ado, although months late, I present the first few InfoBarrel banners in what may or may not end up being a much bigger collection!

Please note: Internet Explorer users might have issues downloading the animated InfoBarrel banners. If you run into any problems, another browser should sort it. If you're still struggling, send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you the originals :)

How to use these graphics

To add a graphic on your own site, first you’ll need to download the image by right-clicking and saving it. You can then upload the image either to your own site (WordPress users can just upload it to your media library) or to an image hosting site like Photobucket. Don't link to the images directly here on InfoBarrel, they won't thank you.

The code to actually insert the banners on your page goes a little something like this:

  1. <a href="http://www.infobarrel.com/signup.php?ref_id=47754"><img src="yourimagepath" alt="Sign up to InfoBarrel"/></a>

You can either paste the code directly into your site file where you want it to display, or use the text widget for WordPress. Change the ref_id to your own, and the image source to the newly uploaded image. If you have any trouble either leave me a comment or send me a PM and I'll do my best to help.

If there is demand for different sizes and whatnot, I'll try and find the time to put something together. If not, enjoy these few!

ZiggyD ... I just saved these myself, but can't seem to get them to animate. You wouldn't happen to know how to do this?

Senterprises, they're just animated gifs so I'm not sure what you could be doing to stop them animating really. Do you mean once they're on your site, or just when you're viewing them on your computer, or....? :)

Hey Michelle, I saved both animated banners to my computer and when I went to view them, they were not animated. They look like they were saved as .png files.

Hmm. I am surprisingly bad with computers so have no real idea why they would do that.

If I right-click on an image and choose "save as" there is a dropdown box for the file format with "GIF Image" selected by default. If yours is set to PNG for some reason that could be it, or maybe someone less technotarded will have a better answer!

Also, be sure you saved the images from within the article itself and not those larger ones at the very bottom of the page. Those are PNGs.

You have to make sure you have copied the entire GIF and not just a single image frame. For me I just drag it onto my desktop but you may have to right-click and save as. If it has .gif after it, it should work.

I tried saving as a GIF too and got the same result as Senterprises. Thank you for trying though...Great idea.

Weeeird, if these have only been working for me all this time I won't be happy. Will have to hassle a friend to help investigate this...

Replying to myself, cos I'm cool.

The closest I can get is with Internet Explorer which appears to save them as .bmp files. Chrome and Firefox work fine for us however. That's not exactly the same as the .png issue but maybe that one could be browser related too? If someone wants to test an alternative browser to whichever they're using and get back to me I'll owe you an internet cookie.

*vague panic*
