Information About Monochrome Laser Printers

By | Mar 24, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

What is it that people don't like about monochrome laser printers? At a time where our society emphasizes color, why would anyone want to mess with a laser printer that is black and white?

First, it's important to realize that monochrome printers are still available. It's hard to believe that when you find color ink jets, color copiers, and even color laser printers everywhere you go! Several manufacturers such as Brother, OKI, Samsung, Lexmark, Canon and Hewlett Packard offer models of monochrome printers that you can choose from. Some are multifunction devices and some are almost like mini copiers, but still, you can get these and your choice is not limited.

Second, you might want to think about what you are printing. What are your requirements? Do you always need to be printing in color? If you are thoughtful, you will realize that most of what you print does not really need to be in color. So why pay the extra cost of color supplies when you only need black and white? The truth is that – while the costs of printing in color have gone down dramatically, color printing is still way more expensive than monochrome printing. This means that a black and white printer can save you money in the long run. Offices or shops that print a lot of black and white, but still need to print in color sometimes may want to buy a black and white laser printer rather than printing everything on the color printer. This could be a good way to save money. Another thing is print quality. Sometimes color printers don't perform best when printing in monochrome. Especially when talking about ink jets, you will not get the best monochrome printing from a color device. Even if you have a color laser printer, you might find that the black and white print quality is nowhere near that of a monochrome laser printer. So if you are a student or a professional writer, to get the best looking, crisp, black and white printouts, you certainly may need to get a laser printer that prints monochrome.

Finally, those with printing needs should consider the number of pages to print when deciding whether to print in color. If you are doing a color print job but need hundreds of copies of a booklet or report, you will find that the cost of color printing adds up quickly. Whether you are printing in house or for a client, you may want to speak with the requestor to let her know how expensive the printing will cost. Clients especially will be glad to learn that you can save them a lot of money by printing their large job in monochrome rather than in color. In addition, save time by printing on the go with a portable printer and scanner.
