Ingrown facial hair is fairly common. This is because it is caused by shaving, waxing, or plucking or tweezing. Ingrown facial hair can be quite painful and because it is in a place which is visible by others can be very uncomfortable psychologically. An ingrown facial hair is usually characterized by the hair penetrating the side of the hair follicle and going into the skin, this causes irritation, swelling, and can become infected and be filled by pus. This is usually very unsightly.

You have several choices in terms of ingrown facial hair treatment. You can make a visit to your physician, you can go and see a dermatologist, or you can attempt home made ingrown facial hair treatment for yourself. The homemade treatment relies on you being able to see the hair, or at least for the heads be low enough so that it can be coaxed to the surface. You would then apply a pair of tweezers and gently pulled the hair out.

Unfortunately this does not apply to ingrown facial hair that has been plucked, tweezed, or waxed. This is because these types of facial hair removal result in the hair being broken off at a much deeper level. When they hair starts to grow again as much more opportunity to pierce the side of the hair follicle and grow into the skin. So your opportunities for facial hair removal at home diminish to only one option, waiting for the hair to grow long enough so that you can get to it easily.

There are a couple of methods that you employ to treat an ingrown facial hair that is broken off deeply inside the skin. Three of these methods of ingrown hair treatment are electrolysis, ingrown facial hair laser treatment, or Epilight for ingrown facial hair. Epilight treatments are basically methods of hair removal using lasers to target the deep ingrown hair. Although you can go to a physician who has the necessary equipment, you would the much better advised to visit a dermatologist because they will have more experience in using these ingrown facial hair removal procedures. The method is normally painless, with only minor irritations suffered after the procedure has been completed. This minor irritation can be treated with the application of the cold compress. The ingrown facial hair removal method usually takes a few minutes to complete and the results are seen after a week or so. White hair is the only color hair that does not respond to this method of hair removal.
