Initial Email Exchange Between Pat Flynn, of SmartPassiveIncome, and I
While documenting my progress towards applying the steps/articles of Pat Flynn's free eBook development guide, on his SmartPassiveIncome.com blog website, I thought it would be beneficial to include my initial email correspondence with him via the Facebook Platform. His well-written guide will be essentially the framework by which I structure all my thoughts and notes into an organized manner.
Based on this exchange, it is clear that this could be a great project that has the potential to elicit many positive things. While there are some intrinsic motivations involved, as with anyone who is developing a product with intent to sell, whether it be an eBook or a Jar of Play-do, this documented process could really serve to be beneficial to Pat's readers. Not only will I go through each and every step of the eBook guide process he has created, in my development of an eBook, but this documentation will also provide expanded details, thoughts, and structure to others who are contemplating pursuing a similar venture.
My Initial Facebook Email to Pat:
Title: Can We Make a Deal(?)
"Hey Pat,
On top of a few other projects I have going on, I have
also been writing an eBook. Your series of posts have been my
inspiration (in fact...so much so....that on my Yellow scrap piece of
Notebook paper, under my very first note I wrote: "Consult
SmartPassiveIncome.com throughout process"....
I'm quite a few
pages into it....tailoring it towards my success with another writing
platform, similar to what WriterGig did with her eBook directed towards
the eHow platform....I saw her eBook as a "Resource" under your
website....
Anyway.....I thought this process could be VERY blog worthy, and shed your writing eBook series in a very good light....
Once I complete it, and publish it, I'll provide you with a Screenshot of my Yellow Notebook Paper......
Would
you then consider blogging about it, but, of course, even though I know
you're very humble.....it would be cool to see how the success was
directly attributable to the series you wrote....
(Of course, all of this is pending whether or not you actually like the book, and would recommend it to your readers...)
One
of the reasons I purchased all the books at Barnes and Noble, that one
day with my fiance, was in order to ensure my projects, and now this
eBook, were done as accurately as possible, based on real experiences
from experts who lived it...
Let me know if you'd be interested in this....
Take care,
Howie
Pat's Response:
"Hey Howie. I think this would be helpful for my audience. I'm sure
there are a lot of people out there who want to do the same type of
thing, but don't for whatever reason. I'll tell you what - when you
finish, I'll have a look at it, and then we could possibly do a podcast
interview. I think it would be a good success story, even before you
know exactly how well it will do. We could talk about the process and
how you overcame different hurdles, and it would actually be useful
instead of sounding like it's just trying to promote your book (which
would be how I would want it anyways).
Would you be interested in doing something like that eventually? let me know."
My Response to Pat's Response:
"Oh, I definitely wanted to avoid that....I was actually thinking that, if we executed this correctly, it could be very beneficial for greatly increasing your own readership trust in you (Which is a great thing to do to facilitate return visits...and interest in you and your brand....)....because it would show that one of your readers put your own posts into direct action....
In fact, on my yellow notebook, I have been dividing all my thoughts/notes into "Parts" which are basically governed by the "Parts" of your Series....I'm going through one by one and applying my own analysis and research....
Posting pictures of my notes, in accordance with how I followed your step by step process, may be very beneficial to readers......I'm really trying to go as deep as possible...as far as researching price points/prices that authors, in a similar niche, have priced their own eBooks...etc....
I'd definitely be interested in doing this....I already have roughly 15-20 articles written, that I have uploaded to that platform, with genuine interest in helping the community.......besides adding alot of additional thoughts and tips, I have a head start in that I will be drawing from/consolidating some of the ideas in those already written articles....and, I'll also synthesize that with my own research/readings from those books I bought from Barnes and Noble....
Sounds like a great thing here....I'll keep in touch with you Pat! (Thanks for such a quick response!)"
