Investing Money While In College

By | Aug 5, 2009 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Some students wonder if it is even worth their time to invest the small amounts of money they have. This is a complex question with no right answer. At first, this small amount of money looks as if it will be wasted when put away in an investment. Some students may think, "why not spend it on something fun?" It is true, students could spend that money on something fun, or, they could invest it and down the road spend it on something greater. Too often in today's society are people so eager for immediate satisfaction. People do not want to put the time and energy into gaining more, they simply want it immediately. My advice to students is to save their money and invest it while they are in college. Once they graduate, it is better to graduate and have some money rather than graduating and having no money at all. The major decision that the students face is to not give into their urges and splurge on frivolous things, such as alcohol and fast food. Instead, save up those small amounts of money here and there and possibly open up a stock account. One possible option is to buy stock in a reliable company that is known to slowly increase in value. One company that comes to mind is Apple's stock. If, the student does not feel ready to invest their own money by themselves, then, they could take it to a professional. The students could simply entrust their money into a mutual fund and continue their schooling. At the end of their college career, they will most likely have more money than what they placed in the first place. It is better to save and think of the future then spend in the present and be broke. The ones who save from an early age are the ones who become financially sound later. The earlier you save, the earlier you can retire.
