Ionic Pro Compact Air Purifier

By | Feb 3, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

If you're looking at ionic air purifiers, then you've certainly seen the Ionic Pro air purifier. Even if you're not looking to buy one, you've probably seen the Ionic Pro Ionic Air Purifier on TV at some point. They seem to have taken the infomercial crown from The Sharper Image, at least when it comes to ionic air purifiers. You've probably also seen all the negative publicity that has assailed the Ionic Breeze air purifiers, and are wondering if the same applies to this newer player.

Who Makes The Ionic Pro Air Purifier?

Ionic Pro, LLC makes and distributes the Ionic Pro Air Purifier. There is no other company involved. The Ionic Pro air purifier was, until quite recently, one of those products that could only be had by calling that 1-800 number and talking to those operators who are standing by. However, they've now made it to the shelves of various department stores, including the vaunted Wal-Mart. Now, you can see the fact that this is a company based solely on making ionic air purifiers in one of two ways. Being dedicated to only one product, the Ionic Pro Air Purifier in various sizes, it seems logical that quality control would be simple. However, having a company so small, and so centered on one product, seems like a recipe for disappearing into the night, taking warranties and spare parts with them.

Compared To The Ionic Breeze Air Purifier

Ionic Pro air purifiers share all of their advantages with the very similar Ionic Breeze Air Purifier. The most obvious, the main, and many times only difference between them, is the design and shape of actual machine. The Ionic Pro Compact Air Purifier is similar in size to a smaller model of the Ionic Breeze. The Ionic Pro usually is available for less, though. As ionic air purifiers are fairly simple, you can probably safely buy the cheapest that is available to you.

Comparing With HEPA Air Purifiers

Comparisons between the ionic air purifiers and HEPA air purifiers aren't quite as straightforward as one might guess. Ionic air purifiers do a nearly identical job compared to a true HEPA air purifier, although a bit less efficiently. To compensate for that, they are able to silently, continuously run, while using a minimum of electricity. There's also no filter element that needs to be changed, only the bar that has to be wiped off once a week, or when it begins to buzz. HEPA air purifiers, on the other hand, may be limited by the filter used. To put it very simply, they stop particles by shoving air through holes that those particles cannot pass. A true HEPA air purifier will be guaranteed to stop 99.7% of those particles that are the most important to stop. However, HEPA-type air purifiers have no such standard or guarantee. Ionic air purifiers, on the other hand, are all pretty similar, and are really only limited by the amount of air they are capable of moving. As they attract the particles through magnetization, they'll clean pretty much everything out of the air, if given time, while a HEPA-type air purifier can't physically catch anything that is capable of getting through those holes. Don't forget this when you are comparing. An ionic air purifier can only catch particles which are equal to or larger than 1 micron, though. True HEPA air purifiers are capable of stopping particles 0.3 microns in diameter, a size that has been proven to be particularly brutal on the human body.

The Ionic Pro Compact Air Purifier Compared Against The Other Ionic Pro Air Purifiers

Ionic Pro, LLC makes it easy to choose by having almost all of their features in every one of their ionic air purifiers. The main difference between the compact and the full-size is the capacity. The Ionic Pro Compact Air Purifier works best in small rooms and offices. Oh, and it's also lacking the Medium fan speed, instead using High and Lo only. Considering the Ionic Pro Compact Air Purifier sells for around half of the cost of the regular one, you might get more benefit from two compact units instead of the one standard.
