Iron Man War Machine Costume For Halloween

By | Jan 4, 2012 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

This classic spin on Tony Spark’s Iron Man costume was specifically designed by him to be used by a friend of his by the name of Jim Rhodes. Rhodes was a military guy and had a certain sub-set of combat skills that this outfit was intended to supplement. Despite being constructed with Rhodes in mind, the first time it was used was by Tony Sparks as he battled the evil ninjas commonly called the “Masters of Silence.” He could not require his friend to work out all of the bugs, could he? Eventually, however, when Tony Sparks was compelled to fake his own death, he left the suit (and his company, Stark Enterprises) in his Last Will and Testament to Rhodes and requested that he carry on the works he started as Iron Man. Rhodes agreed and quickly learned to love his new role and new armor. However, when it was learned that Tony Sparks was, in fact, still alive and that his death was a pre-planned sham, Rhodes changed the name of the suit to “War Machine,” in an effort to take a step away from Tony Sparks and retain some independence with the amazing grey Iron Man suit.

After Tony Sparks faked his death, Jim Rhodes (also known as Rhodey) was furious and set out to, at least temporarily distanced himself from Tony because he was upset that he was not let in on the deception earlier. When he left, Rhodey joined two separate organizations: the West Coast Avengers, and Worldwatch (the human-rights organization of the time). There Rhodey made a name for himself as he strove to the world safe from criminals and other Iron Man villains.

Later, when he was involved in a time-traveling mission, Rhodey lost his original War Machine costume but, fortunately, gained a new and improved alien armor set so that he could continue his efforts to eliminate crime. However, when the Fukikawa costume carried out a hostile takeover of Stark Enterprises, Rhodey destroyed his alien armor suit, along with all of the powers and abilities that came with it (i.e., he had no powers or super abilities except for what the suit allowed him to do) to protect the secrets associated with Sparks’ Iron Man suits. And why wouldn’t he? Despite having his feelings hurt, Rhodey never forget who gave him his crime-fighting career and would also be there to give Tony a loyal, helping hand when needed.

Iron Man 2 (2010) Movie - War Machine Classic Muscle Child Costume

Always ready and willing to jump into a serious battle to do the right thing, James Rhodes was critically injured in an attack on a Dubai military base. Fortunately for him, he knew Tony Sparks who saved his life by making him into a half-human cyborg. While Sparks had successfully cloned Rhodey’s body to give him his body back (and some semblance of his past), Norman Osborn eventually seized it and Rhodey was left in the cyborg form; a form that really allowed him to be known as a war machine. Iron Man 2 (2010) Movie - War Machine Canon

When James Rhodes severed his ties with Tony Sparks over the whole “faked death” fiasco, he was finally out in the world as his own man, albeit sporting the newly named War Machine costume that he took from Sparks. Fortunately, Rhodey was a smart man and realized that if he was going to go out and fight crime, he would need to be packing some serious heat. After all, he was a solider to the bone and combat ran deep in his blood. One of his favorite pieces of wartime artillery was his shoulder canons. These canons can shoot targets with pinpoint accuracy due, in large part, to the laser site Sparks had built right into War Machine’s helmet. Additionally, these canons pack a mean punch, allowing Rhodey to shoot at eight different targets at once using a variety of dealing missiles and related projectiles. As such, if your child is dressing up in a child War Machine costume this year, you definitely need to buy him the Iron Man 2 (2010) Movie – War Machine Cannon to add to his ensemble. This thing rocks and has a worn-looking silver plastic body, coming with an orange tip and other war-used detailing. This cannon is designed to fit over you boy’s shoulder and is made to comfortably fit most children.

Iron Man 2 (2010) Movie - War Machine Rocket Gauntlets Child

Fortunately for James Rhodes, Tony Sparks knew that the War Machine suit was going to be used by him when he designed it. Since Sparks also knew that Rhodey was a soldier at heart, the suit would need to be designed in such a way that it could attract and incorporate other weapons. One such weapon that was added to the War Machine outfit was his rocket gauntlets. The gauntlets were designed as part of Stark’s variable threat response suit and are designed to continuously spray the target with belt-fed ammunition that is electronically fired. Permitting War Machine to shoot up to eight varying types of ammo, these wrist cannons certainly allow War Machine to live up to his name. As such, any child dressed as War Machine this Halloween needs to include these Iron Man 2 (2010) Movie – War Machine Rocket Gauntlets Child it his stash of artillery. Similar to the shoulder cannon pictured above, these arm gauntlets are designed to look battle used. They are 12.5 inches long and really add those finishing details to your child’s Halloween costume. An officially licensed Iron Man 2 product, these arm rocket gauntlets will fit most children.
