Full Review

If you are a fan of NBC's The Biggest Loser like I am, then you have already heard of the Bodybugg. If you haven't and aren't really interested in going somewhere else to find out about it, I'll tell you what it is. The Bodybugg is a machine that collects data like how many calories you burn, how many steps you've taken and how many calories you need to eat in order to lose weight. You wear it on your arm and it stores the data until you are ready to download it onto their website.

When you first order a Bodybugg, you are asked if you need an appointment with one of their Bodybugg coaches to help you get started on using their product. If you refuse initially, you can always change your mind and have them call you later. It takes about a week for the product to arrive, if you order it through their website, or you can go to a gym like 24 Hour Fitness and purchase one there. Once you register your Bodybugg on their website and answer their in-depth questionnaire on your nutrition and fitness lifestyle, you are ready to start wearing your Bodybugg.

When I decided to buy the Bodybugg, I only knew as much as I saw on The Biggest Loser. The first new thing I noticed was the price. The Bodybugg is expensive. There are two options of Bodybugg that you can decide from. The original Bodybugg is just a small square device with an on/off button and a place where you can put the usb cord. The more sophisticated version also has a digital display that shows you how many steps you took and how many calories you've burned throughout the day. The original version of the Bodybugg costs about $180 and the digital version cost about $240. These prices do not include shipping and handling.

I really like the fact that I didn't have to worry about calculating the caloric burn for every different type of exercise I did or for my lifestyle in general. The Bodybugg even calculates how many calories you burn while you sleep and you don't even need to wear it while you sleep. Wearing the Bodybugg is like having a visual reminder that you should remain as active as you can and watch what you eat. It has helped me lose weight that I've been struggling to lose for a while.

There are a few other negatives besides the price. In order for the device to work, you have to wear it as much as possible. They only give you two different size bands to wear so if you are a size in between the two, you will have to do what you can to make them fit. This can cause irritation on your skin. Also there were a lot of takeout meals that I would try to enter that wasn't in the database. Finally you can only update your weight and measurement information once a week.

If you are looking for a device that can help you lose weight and money isn't that much of an issue, I would definitely recommend the Bodybugg. If money is tight and you don't want to buy a used Bodybugg, then stick with using some of the other products out there.
