Is Almond Oil Good For Your Eyes?

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Is almond oil good for the eyes? The short answer is yes, but not really. What I mean is that almond oil has lots of nutrients but it is normally used on skin around eyes, not directly on the eyes. But taking care of the eye skin will be beneficial for your eyes as well.

How to Use Almond Oil on Your Skin?

The simple way to use it is the direct application of pure almond oil on your skin. Take a cotton swab, put few drops of the oil on it and be gentle, since the skin around eyes is soft and sensitive.

Let the oil sit for 20 minutes, then you can either remove it with a swab or rinse with water. Do this twice a day for a month to see the changes: your skin will become lighter in color due to better nourishment, and some shallow wrinkles may get smoothed as well. Actually this is pretty common for many oils to keep them on the skin for around 20 minutes.

Is such application safe? Yes, it is completely safe since almond oil is a natural product without any side effects.

Why It Works?

Our skin gains wrinkles due to the loss of collagen and elasticity. As we already mentioned the skin around eyes is very gentle, so usually it is the first to display the aging symptoms compared to the skin on other parts of the body. When you use almond oil on your skin it nourishes it making the skin more elastic and removing wrinkles. Although the complete wrinkle removal is not guaranteed since it is naturally comes with aging, however the proper nourishing significantly slows down the aging process.

More Ways to Use Almond Oil

Almond oil for eyes
1. Take few drops of the oil, and gently massage the skin around eyes for ten minutes. The best time for this is before going to bed. This massage will improve blood circulation around eyes and help get rid of dark circles.

2. Mix equal parts of almond oil and honey, then apply the resulting substance on your eyes. Leave the solution for the night and wash it off the next morning. This will nourish your skin even more thanks to honey.

3. If you have a sagging skin around eyes, take lanolin and mix it with almond oil (2 tbsp of oil and 1 tbsp of each other ingredient). Apply it on the skin around eyes for 20 minutes. This is good for puffy eyes, but I haven't yet tried it myself.

4. If you mix almond oil with lavender oil, the mixture will be helpful to relive the eye tension.

Almond oil is also used on hair and often is a common ingredient in skin and hair care products. Although the oil is completely safe, to use it effectively always watch your skin for response and make the necessary adjustments to the oil recipes if needed.
