Laser Eye Surgery

What is Lasik laser surgery? For starters Lasik is an acronym for Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis, a form surgery widely used to correct eye problems like nearsightedness or farsightedness. It also performed on people who have astigmatism.

Generally this type of surgery seeks to correct eyesight by reforming the cornea, which is the clear front part of your eye. This is to allow easy penetration and focus of light onto the retina situated behind the eye. Lasik is just but one of the many surgical procedures used by doctors to reform the cornea.

There are many benefit of Lasik laser surgery some of which include:

*This surgical procedure actually corrects vision. According to statistics, 95% of people who have had a LASIK surgery reported full recovery of eyesight. Scientists are working round the clock to make sure that this figure gets to 100% by continuously improving the way the surgical procedure is conducted.

* You have your eyesight corrected almost instantaneously or after 24 hours.

* It doesn’t come with bandages or stitches.

* Long after you have been operated, it is still possible to make adjustments to enhance vision even more. This is true especially if you’re getting into old age.

* A good number of those having this procedure have reported less dependency on contact lenses with some saying that they don’t require them at all.

Other Eye Conditions That Laser Surgery Can Help.

Eye Floaters… These are spots found in the eyes that obstruct vision. They resemble gray or black specks and move as the fluids move. Most floaters are linked to age, and the problem is mostly seen in older people. They take the form a gel like when the material known as vitreous becomes watery. This further leads to merging up of microscopic fibers in the eye thus casting small shadows on the retina. It is these shadows that are responsible for changing the way you see.

It is highly advisable that medical attention be sought immediately if you notice an increase in the number of eye floaters. Don’t hesitate to see the doctor especially when you start experiencing decreased periphery vision and color hues to avoid more serious complications in the future. Laser surgery can be used to correct floaters.

Eye Diseases… As you grow older, your chances of developing these problems also increase. Problems may lead to impaired vision or total loss of eyesight. Research shows that 1 out of every 30 people have one condition or the other. Most of these diseases are caused by:

* Cataracts.

* Thyroid eye disease.

* Macular degeneration which is mostly related to age.

* Glaucoma.

* Eye injury.

* Bad lifestyle habits like smoking and alcoholism.

* Failure to eat foods rich in essential vitamins like A, E and C.

Be sure to book an appointment with the doctor when realizing you may be having a problem with your eyes. The earlier you do it the better because it will be easier to avert more detrimental occurrences in the days to come. Once again, laser surgery is among the most viable options you may opt to correct your problem. Other treatment options include photodynamic therapy and injections.

Eye Allergies

Allergy Eyes… Allergies to the eye are most of the time brought about by other allergic problems more so hay fever and dermatitis. When you’re diagnosed with allergic eyes, your doctor is most likely going to prescribe medications that will seek to ease the problem. Nonetheless, many people don’t actually know the difference between the allergies and reaction of the eye to irritants. It is not as surprise therefore to find people confusing pink eye for instance with allergies.

While allergies may not be as painful they are certainly irritating. Some of these allergies may actually lead to scarring of the cornea further complicating the patient’s ability so see. Some of the symptoms of allergic eyes include itchy and dry eyes. If you have itchy eyes then you may want to consider using decongestants to correct the redness and itchiness.

You may also use steroids to address the problem of having allergic eyes. However it is important to mention that when it comes to steroids you may have to administer them under supervision of your Doctor.

Natural Eye Exercises… While it may require laser surgery to correct some problems, it is also possible to correct loss of eyesight through naturally excising the eyes. These exercises improve vision incredibly. They are quick and easy to execute.

Rolling your eyes in clockwise and anticlockwise direction in the same number of times will help relax the eyes as well as strengthening the muscles.

Palming where you cup the eyes with your palms is another natural exercise you may use to relieve pressure off the eyes. Warm your palms before proceeding to place them on the cheekbone and the central part of the forehead while making sure that the eyes are totally covered in darkness. Be sure to leave some space for blinking.

Talking of blinking, this is another exercise you can use to increase the moisture content in the eyes. Moisture is of absolute necessity in the eyes as it helps lubricate the eyes in addition to getting rid of harmful objects.

Is There Any Need to Improve Vision...? There is every need to ensure that your eyesight is at its optimum always. Vision is an integral part of any human being’s life and the need to enhance it doesn’t have to be overemphasized. Good vision will ensure higher productivity and to a large extent add value to life.

It is therefore good to make it your habit going for regular checkups now and then. Regular visits to your specialist will help detect any threat to your eyesight and correction measures taken before the problem escalates. Like mentioned, the earlier you attend to an problem, the better it is.
