Should you start an online passive income endeavor so that you can easily sit on your behind and watch the dollars role in? The fact that you equate passive income to doing very little means you are bound for failure. There is nothing passive about online income. You will likely be working from home but don’t get carried away. If it were that easy, everyone will be doing it. It can be done and there are a lot of people making enough money to work from home. It is still work and you need to put a lot into it if you want to succeed.

Passive income that is not so smart

If you read sites like Dooce.com, you will be overwhelmed at how easy it is to make a living from your website. A lot of people thinking about making money online gloss over the work and concentrate on the passive side of things. Most of those who are now making a living from their website from home didn’t start out to make money. There were sometimes forced into it. Life can be cruel but the successful ones have taken advantage of their bad situation and have turned things around. The smart passive income is about trial and error. Many want to repeat the success stories of others by imitating what others have done. That is one of the reasons why many fail. If you are trying to do what others have already done, what are you offering that will be genuine that will get readers over to your site.

There is also a bit of luck when it comes to making money online. There are those who have a natural gift to do what it takes to make money. Others will just have to stick to their 9 to 5 jobs. It is not smart to think passive income is easy. Making money is not easy no matter how you approach it.

What can you do that someone will be willing to read or pay you to do? That is one of the most difficult things to figure out when you are starting out. Creating passive income doesn’t often require spectacular ideas. You don’t have to be godlike, but it can help. You don’t have to be an expert because nobody is when it comes to online income. If you look at most successful people, they would have tried and failed but the difference is, they are still there.

Are you willing to put in the time? (It you don’t have the time, don’t bother)

Do you understand that smart passive income means work? (Very important to get your lazy behind off the couch)

Some ideas for smart passive income

Are you depressed: Write about your daily struggles and how you are overcoming your situation (you personal touch will appeal to readers). You can compile your ideas into an e-Book and sell it on your site. People will only buy if you are making progress. No depressed person will want to buy something that will make him or her more depressed.

Join writing sites for revenue share: For this to work for you, you need to know a little bit about keywords and SEO. This is even more important after the Google farmer panda update. It is best to write for your own site but shared revenue site have an advantage. You don’t have to worry about site maintenance.

Mommy blog: The truth is nobody cares about your children and how cute they are. What people will like to know is what they can gain from your experience. For example, if you’ve lost a child and you feel the need to share that with the world, That can be something that you can convert into smart passive income. Just posting pictures of your children will not cut it. People do the same with pictures of their puppies.

Appliances and gadgets: This is another idea to create passive income. Your passion can be about telephones, hobbies, washing machine and how you deal with fixing and using your equipments. With this type of websites, you need to have very strong opinions and be compelling for readers to want more. If you are just stating the obvious, nobody will be impressed. You don’t have to be loved by your readers, you just have to give them a reason to come back for more.
