Is Spray Tanning Risky?

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

We always see the ads on spray tanning and how wonderful it can make you look but the question is,is it really as safe as they say? It is very tempting when things are made much easier and convenient as spray tanning is. Instead of spending hours at the beach and risking yourself to damage from the sun like skin cancer you can simply get a spray on tan. How many people question what is in this chemical and what harm can it do? For some people all it takes is the FDA's approval for them to trust a product.

The Federal Drug Administration has approved this chemical if it is applied onto your skin. Home spray tanning solution has DHA which is the main ingredient. It darkens the dead skin without any harm. Although there have been arguements about that many people continue to fill up tanning salons and buy tanning products. It is a fact that if DHA gets in your blood it can become harmful to your health.

There are several ways that DHA can make its way into your blood. One way is through your nose just by breathing it in. Breathing in this chemical allows it to travel up through the nostrils and into the sensitive tissues. Even though you can not see this happening, a lot damage can be done. Another way DHA can reach your bloodstream is simply by touching your lips and tasting it. This is not uncommon especially if you are tanning your face.

Your eyes are also an entry for the spray to absorb into your blood. Basically it is best to avoid all areas of your face in order to decrease health risks. It is only common sense that you shouldn't get DHA into any cuts or open skin. It wouldn't make sense to cover a wound and get a spray on tan because the covered area wouldn't tan. The best thing you can do is wait for the scar to heal before getting a tan.

If you are looking for the safest way to spray tan then it might be better to have a technician do an airbrush tan at spray tanning salons. Your eyes, nose and mouth are easily avoided when a spray tan is done manually.

You can be your own judge when it comes to whether spray tanning is safe or not. If you do decide to go ahead with it just make sure you take all precautions for the sake of your health.
