Is Using A Fake Security Camera A Good Idea?

By Edited Jun 1, 2015 0 0

All of us know the importance of having a good security system in place to protect our home, apartment and business establishments. After all, those properties are part of our long term investment towards the future and protecting them against those that pose threat to it should be one of our priorities. Establishing a suitable home or apartment alarm system or a security system for your business properties is always highly recommended.

However, there are certain situations where home or business owners are unable to immediately implement such contingencies; either because they lack the technical capabilities and know-how to carry out such a project or because they do not have the money to spend for it.

We all know that not all security systems are created equal as some will be technically better than others and, most especially, some will be pricier than others. If you are looking to establish a high-end system that may include multiple security devices (e.g. motion sensors, laser detectors, alarm monitoring devices and provisions, compatible lighting system, phone dialers, door alarms, security cameras ,etc.) then you may have to prepare to spend a lot.

For those who cannot afford to spend a lot on a top-of-the-line system, there is an alternative. Some people propose that in place of an expensive system, you can use a psychological strategy, a scare tactic if you will, of using fake security devices just for show. The rationale here is that if a burglar or intruder thinks a property is protected by an electronic security system, they will definitely think twice about targeting it. These criminals stay away from targets that pose more risks for them, and if they perceive your home to be such, they will surely move on to look for easier targets.

One of the most popular fake security devices is the fake security camera. They are usually installed in areas where they are visible to outsiders. They should work well discouraging bad guys from carrying out their criminal intentions but only if the cameras themselves are well-made to look like the real deal. The best ones are those that are built with details and designs that make them look like real working ones. They should have wires and cables and LED indicator lights to make them look real. They come in different designs--- from bullet camera to dome camera designs, etc.

Another popular option is to use fake home security stickers to scare off intruders. Security stickers are used to warn outsiders of any home or apartmen alarm system that is being implemented. These should be a good psychological deterrent for outsiders who may be looking for homes and properties they could break into and ransack.

Employing the fake security strategy is an option for those who, for some reason or another, may find that installing a real one is not possible. However, it should be noted that this is not a totally safe strategy to use and should only be used as temporary measure to ward off any security threats from your home, apartment of business property. It is dangerous to rely on fake security devices and stickers forever. They should be converted to a real system as soon as you can afford to do so.
