Jillian Michaels Body Revolution is a 90 day fitness programme designed to overhaul my current exercise and diet habits. She has considered everything involved in creating, and maintaining, great fitness and eating routines so that I don't have to.It may sound strange to think about eating as a routine but if you have poor eating habits and struggle to get back on track to good eating habits (as I did), then a routine is what you need.
The same goes for fitness. In order to make fitness a habit, it must first become part of your daily routine. This is how new habits are formed. I like that Jillian has planned every single workout to do, in what order, and on what day. Likewise, with the meal planner. She tells me what to eat and when so that all I need to do is follow along in order to succeed.
In the box you will get 15 workout DVDs, the 7-Day Kickstart Your Metabolism guide, a Fitness Guide, a 90-Day Journal, a Fat Burning Meal Plan & Recipe book, a resistance cord, and an offer for a free 30 day online membership. This membership gave me personalized information as to what type of 'oxidizer' I am and what types of foods are best for me to eat in order to lose weight. When I log on, I can see my suggested exercises for the day based on my personal preferences. I can also see my daily meal plan. There is a calorie counter where I enter everything I eat and track my calories to the maximum allowed per day. The number of calories I should eat is calculated by Jillian based on my body type, current weight, and activity level.
Body Revolution is divided into three phases of workouts. Phase 1 also includes the '7-Day Kickstart Your Metabolism' programme. This is a week-long, intense diet and exercise regimen that will get you quick results so that the motivation exists to stay with the programme. After that, weeks 2-13 are pre-planned in the Fitness Guide for each day you work out. I like this programme because it considers what muscles to work on each day so that I are not stressing them but giving them time to recover in between workouts. This is mixed with High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) so that I burn more calories when I work out. I'm sure that when I do a bootcamp routine at the gym, the instructor is just choosing a random workout and not really taking into consideration what muscles are working or resting throughout the week. In order to optimize my training, however, this is an important element. Jillian speaks more about this in her DVDs during the workouts.
Phases 1, 2, and 3 are each divided into sets of workouts. For example, during Phase 1 I do Workouts 1-4 and Cardio 1. These workouts are planned so that I am working different muscle groups on any given day and then doing cardio twice per week as well. Each week also has one day of rest built in. I can really appreciate this!
I ordered this programme online and paid approximately $120. It is definitely worth the money, especially when you consider expensive gym memberships. The only other thing I had to buy were hand weights. Give Body Revolution a try as I have seen a lot of success with it and would recommend this fitness programme to any person that is ready to commit to getting a better body.
