A Review of Jillian Michaels Body Revolution
I have survived the 7-Day Kickstart program, and have completed Phase 1 of Jillian Michaels Body Revolution. This is a 90 day fitness program that has three Phases. This is so your body is continually being challenged and is not stuck in a plateau. That is when your body adjusts to a routine and you stop losing weight - not good.
Phase 1 of this program is done over 4 weeks. There are 4 different workouts with weights and/or resistance along with 1 cardio workout that you will do for the whole month. Don't worry - these workouts are carefully thought out and muscles are exercised on alternate days. This allows them to recover properly. The cardio workout is done just twice per week. You also get one day to rest each week. Each workout DVD is 30 minutes in length. This is a perfect amount of time for me. I usually squeeze this in right after work; I grab a quick snack and then commit to 30 minutes to do my workout. I really like this program for this reason - any longer than 30 minutes and it becomes easier for me to say that I don't have time and talk myself out of it. Jillian takes this seriously, and since it's only half and hour, you have to work hard the entire time. As she repeats several times 'it's your workout', she's right. Nobody else cares how hard I work except me. I find this very motivating.
Phase 1 is not an easy workout, although it is the beginning of the program. I found the workouts to be challenging nonetheless. Depending on where you are in your fitness journey, there are always modifiers for many of the moves as well as 'extra challenge' for those who are ready. The workouts are structured as high intensity interval training that keeps your heart rate up and burns more calories. Each workout begins with a warm-up followed by 1 minute intervals of weight and/or resistance training. There is 1 minute of cardio to get your heart pumping and then you go back through the circuit again. There are 4 circuits in each workout for a total of 30 minutes. Sounds a little complicated, I know, but I find that so much better than doing the same, predictable workout over and over again.
So far, I have seen great results with Jillian Michaels Body Revolution workout dvd. I have noticed that a lot of fat has disappeared from my abs. My upper body is responding more quickly than my lower body but this is because of my body type. My goal is to tone my thighs and butt and continue to lose fat from these areas. I have definitely lost inches all over my body. My clothes are fitting more loosely and look better. Now I'm moving into Phase 2 and looking forward to it.
