Full Review

Jo Malone's Lime Basil and Mandarin fragrance was one of the first scents created by the British perfumier. Fresh lime, fresh mandarin and basil and white thyme combine in this, her signature fragrance.

A fresh, citrus scent, the Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin fragrance is one of the company's best sellers, and with good reason. I bought my first bottle over 8 years ago now, when Jo Malone was still a small, London based brand, not the huge global success that it is today.

Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin scent is branded a cologne, and is the kind of unisex scent that would smell just as good on a man as on a woman. It's available to buy as a 30ml or 100ml cologne. Other items in the range include Bath Oil, Soap, Body Crème, Body Lotion, Shower Gel, Shampoo, Conditioner and 2 types of candle. A 'fragrance chronicle' is also offered, which contains the 30ml cologne spray, along with smaller scents of Mandarin, Basil and Amberwood, to be combined as you choose to create your own custom fragrance.

Prices for the 30ml cologne spray are £34.00 GBP, with 100ml retailing at £68.00. It's a lot to pay, but my experience is that a 30ml bottle will last a good 18-24 months when used 3-4 times in a week. The small bottle is also really handy to fit into a purse for touch-ups on the go. Jo Malone also makes an extra effort with the packaging. The glass bottle is extremely slick and simple, but looks timeless. If you are buying as a gift, they come beautifully wrapped and packaged, and make a classy and expensive present.

Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin cologne is quite a grown up scent – it's not for girls, it's for women. (If you're looking for something more floral, try Jo Malone Red Roses). I find it ideal to wear in the office or in meetings, as it's not too strong and very fresh and clean and it has that 'expensive' smell to it. It's not a scent I can imagine smelling bad on anyone – it seems to hit the lime and basil notes first, then the mandarin comes through and sweetens the whole thing. I'd say it lasts about 6 hours before it needs topping up. Its fresh scent is also a great pick me up, which makes it ideal for scenting rooms with the candle range too.

In Closing

If you like fresh, clean, adult scents and don't mind spending the cash, then Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin fragrance is worth every penny. And if you're looking for a gift that you simply can't go wrong with – this is it!
