Our bodies are designed to heal themselves and our food should be the medicine we use to aid the healing process along.

For most of the existence of human beings on this planet, there were no doctors or formalized medicine. People had to make do with remedies in the wild or whatever was available to them in primitive civilizations. Food was the primary source of healing the body internally.

Many of the ancient remedies have been forgotten with time, but they have always been there whether we want to see them or not. 

In the modern western diet, we have gotten into the bad habit of eating processed foods which tend to leave us feeling lethargic and bloated at times.

Many of the foods we eat are basically toxic, loaded with preservatives and chemicals. The best description I've heard lately is that we are eating "food-like" products.[2]

Can you lose weight juicing? Yes, if you cut back on your other calories.

Juice cleansing gives our body a chance to fight back without having to process new toxins that we consume on a daily basis. Think of it as a way to purify your internal organs. Natural, healthy food provides all of the nutrition and vitamins for the nourishment of our bodies, which in turn promotes healing.  It is also one of the best ways to lose weight.

Research has found that the key nutrients for healing include flavonoids, vitamins A,  B, C and E,  and zinc. [1]

With that in mind, here are some juice recipes to try that are made from fruits that make you lose weight.  These recipes are designed for maximum nutrition, not necessarily delicious smoothies you would get at a restaurant.

In short, if you are looking for a sweet filled milk shake type drink, you are probably going to be disappointed with these recipes. They are made to cleanse your system, not fatten you up.

The best part about all of these healthy recipes is that they can be made in a normal blender, or juiced in a traditional juicer.

Be sure to wash all produce listed below in a colander before placing in the blender.

Lemonade with Honey

  • 2 cups of purified spring water
  • 2 medium lemons juiced
  • 15 mint leaves
  • ½” cube of fresh ginger, peeled
  • 3 tablespoons of raw honey

Put everything in the blender all at once and blend on the highest setting. Once it is thoroughly blended, pour into a large glass with ice cubes and along with additional lemon slices.

Alternately, you can add the ice in the blender if you a slushy or smoothie types drink.

Fresh Carrot, Mango and Kiwi Juice

  • 1 cup carrot juice
  • 1 cup frozen mango chunks
  • 2 kiwis peeled and quartered

Place the carrot juice, frozen mango and kiwis in a blender. Blend until smooth and serve immediately.

Mango Coconut Juice

  • 1 1/2 cups light coconut milk
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 1/2 cups of pieces of frozen mango
  • One lime juiced

Place ingredients in a blender in the order listed above then blend on high until smooth and consistent. Serve over ice if you desire.

Spring Green Juice

  • 1 celery root
  • 2 small pears
  • 2 inches of ginger root

Slice the ginger into, and cut and remove the seeds from the core of the pears. Blend on high for 2 minutes adding ice cubes if you desire a thicker drink. The ice cubes will also help pulverize the celery and ginger root.

Healthy Fat Juice

  • 1 diced mango
  • ½ avocado
  • 2 cups of coconut water
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries

Blend all ingredients on high for 2 minutes and serve over ice.

Celery, Cucumber and Pear Juice

  • 1 medium cucumber
  • 3 celery stalks
  • 1 1/2 small to medium pears
  • 3 cups of kale

Add ingredients together into the blender and blend on high for 2 minutes adding ice cubes if you desire a thicker drink.

Sun Kissed Juice

1 beet
2 carrots
2 oranges
2-4 cups of kale OR spinach
1 inch piece of ginger

Peel the oranges, and chop everything else into smaller pieces before adding to a blender. Blend on high for two minutes and serve over ice if desired.

Orange Garden Juice

  • 7 medium carrots
  • 1 medium orange bell pepper
  • 1 pear
  • 2 inches ginger
  • 1 fennel bulb

Cut the top and bottom off the pepper and remove the seeds. Add everything into the blender and juice on high for 2 minutes adding ice cubes if you desire a thicker drink.

Vitamin C Powerhouse Juice

2 red grapefruits, peeled
2 oranges, peeled
2 red delicious apples
2 celery stalks
2 cups of spinach

Blend all ingredients on high for 2 minutes and serve over ice.

Apple Cinnamon Juice

  • 1 small apple
  • 2 long carrots
  • 1 medium beet
  • 1 dash of cinnamon

Blend all ingredients for 2 minutes and serve over ice.

Summary

Whether you are doing a juice cleanse, juice fasting or looking for juicing recipes for weight loss, the nutrients and energy you will gain from ingesting fruits and vegetables that you have probably neglected over the years will provide an almost immediate improvement in the way you look and feel

In the western world, we do eat too many processed foods. I wish that our foods were more natural and therefore, more healthy. Your article encourages people to take responsibility for their health. I also appreciate your breakdowns of various vitamins and what their benefits are. Thank you for sharing your juicing recipes and keep up the terrific work.
