If you Jumble is No Longer King of the HouseCredit: http://www.flickr.com/photos/themaidsofportland/4882352301/are a perfect housekeeper, I offer you my respect, but most likely this post would not be of much interest to you. I write this to inspire those women who constantly struggle to keep their respective homes in order.

Sometimes it may seem like you are the only one in the world whose house is not the model of cleanliness and perfect order while being surrounded by paragons of housekeeping. But believe me, you are not alone. There are millions of other ladies, including me, who feel like their life is a circus show, where they have to juggle with their job, kids, husband, house duties and many other things just to keep things rolling while maintaining order and keeping stuff clean and neat at home.

If you are one of us, I have some good news for you. I know what it feels like to come back home or even worse, stay at home, and see the crazy jumble around you. It might even seem like the house is at war with you. No matter how much time you dedicate to cleaning, it gets only worse.

However, others have found a way out of this situation and this means that so can you.

One of the good tidings is that you have the resources you need to win this battle right inside you. You only need to learn how to use them. Here are a few useful tips for you to overcome the jumble in your house to turn it to the home you pictured it to be.

Get armed, but not with the broom or the mop. First, get yourself an alarm clock. What the heck do you need it for? To stop your life being consumed by the jumble and trying to fight it. Here is what you do. Set your alarm to sound in 15 min. Yes, this is all you need to get things done. Even if housework is not your favorite occupation, I believe you can tolerate it for 15 min at least.

Once you set the clock, get to work. Select the room you want to clean and stay in that room. The problem with cleaning up is that we get distracted all the time. You clean your bedroom, then you find shoes you want to take to your hallway, you go there and see more havoc to deal with and start cleaning it up. You spend an hour of such cleaning and see no results anywhere in your house. You get frustrated.

The trick is to focus on one room and stay there. Even if you have to go to another room, do not get distracted and come back. Spend 15 min in one room, cleaning it. Do not start any big work. Just clean the floors, make your bed or put things away. You’ll see how in just 15 min your room turns from havoc to tidiness.

Finally, you’ll get to see the difference! It is such an inspiring feeling and you have spent only 15 min working at it! It is that simple. Now, just keep on going. Set aside one hour daily, break it up into four sessions of 15 minutes each and take breaks between those. In a week, you’ll see your house transformed!

You are the perfect housekeeper; it’s only a matter of organizing your efforts. If you got a husband and kids, distribute assignments and alarm clocks. Do not try to get things done perfect in the first 15 min, just get it done. Give yourself time to work on this routine until it turns into something fun or at least, something bearable. This way you can learn to enjoy your home, sweet home!
