Keeping Outdoor Rabbits
The best thing about keeping an outdoor rabbit as a pet is that cleaning is much easier in the long run. When solely kept indoors, rabbits can create a big mess in the house or in their cages, and they need constant attention to keep in order. They can also hop around and cause a lot of trouble by chewing on your carpets or phone cables. You won't have to deal with these annoying occurrences if you keep your rabbit outdoors, but that doesn't mean that taking care of it will be free from effort. Outdoor rabbits need a good housing structure since you will be unable to just let it roam free in your own backyard at all times. Even if you have full fencing encompassing your yard, rabbits like to dig underground so make sure to have a good hutch as a home base where a rabbit can stay safe. Outdoor rabbits can be just as well maintained as indoor ones, so think about letting it venture into nature if you have the adequate equipment.
Keeping a pet rabbit outside means much more than just leaving your rabbit in your backyard to run around. You will want to designate a clearly marked area for it to live in and feed when necessary. Rabbits have an innate capability to cause widespread mischief so make sure that your rabbit is far away from your garden or flower beds. Define a clear region for your rabbit and train it to go back to its outer hutch so you can keep it safe. You won't be able to leave your rabbit unattended at all times because there is the real threat of outdoor predators – not to mention it might run away. But as long as you have a well defined area with good barriers, your rabbit can exist quite well in a more natural environment.
The great thing about rabbits as pets is that they can adapt to a number of different environments and varying circumstances. So while you may commonly think of bunnies as common household pets, they can actually be quite happy living outside the house. Take care to make sure they have a good outdoor rabbit cage that they can sllep in. There are important things to carefully consider if you want to keep your outdoor rabbit happy and satisfied. It might initially be harder work, but many rabbits will appreciate the opportunity for greater freedom. As long as you have a handle on your rabbit's personality and its preferences, you can certainly keep it in an outdoor environment.
