When you have children you will want them to continue learning even when they are outside of school.  You may have a child who is not school going age, but you want them to get a head start.  There are a lot of educational websites on the internet.  However, not all of them are very kid friendly which means that they are focussed on the parents more than the children. Care should be taken when searching for education sites, but services such as Virgin Media fibre optic broadband have extra security measures to protect users. If you want your kids to continue their learning then you should consider some of the child friendly websites that are out there.  These websites will be safe and easy for children to use while offering them some educational materials. 

The BBC Schools Website

The BBC is one of the biggest news and TV companies in the world.  This giant has branched out to help you with the continued education of your children.  The BBC schools website offers a lot of resources that you can use and that are safe for your child to use.

The website has games and information that is all education on the website that are created to be child friendly.  All areas of the school curriculum will be covered by this website so you do not have to worry that the information your children are learning is irrelevant.  You will not only be able to get an online interactive experience from this website.

The BBC Schools website offers worksheets that you can print out for your children.  You can also find a lot of information and tips about how to support the educational needs of your child.  This is a great websites for children and parents that you should definitely take a look at.

Pora Ora

Not all of the educational websites that you find will cover all ages.  If you have a child that is between the ages of 5 and 12 then you should look at Pora Ora.  This website is a fun world that your children can become immersed in.  When your children use the site they will be able to learn while they play.  This is one of the best ways for education websites to work as they engage your children in a manner that gets them to come back.

This website is also linked to the national curriculum so it covers all the areas that children in this age range need.  It is also possible for children to make friends with each other on Pora Ora, send gifts and rate other player’s homes.  This social aspect of the website makes it more attractive to a lot of children.  It is free to use the website and emails are sent to parents about the progress that their child is making in the game.

Education City

As the name would suggest Education City is another website that allows your children to learn while they play.  This website takes you child to a magical world where they are taught about maths, languages, science and reading.  The age range for this site is 3 to 12 years.  One difference with this website is that you are going to have to pay  to use the it.  There is a free 10 day trial, but after this you have to pay a yearly subscription for each child using the website.  The cost of using the website is not that great. 

Education City does not only offer a games.  They will also be able to communicate with other users in the community areas.  There is also a vast range of characters that will keep them coming back to the game.  There is a success tracker that you can access to see your child’s progression through the game and where they are having problems. 

Oxford Owl

Oxford Owl is a beautifully designed site that targets children aged 3 to 11.  It mainly helps children with reading and maths.  This is done through a number of fun activities that are brought to life on the website.  This website is free to use and will offer information for children and parents.

The help that parents can get comes in the form of tips to help your child’s learning.  There are also around 250 free ebooks that you can get from this website. 

National Geographic Kids

If you want your kids to learn more about animals, wildlife and the environment then this website is the right one for you.  National Geographic Kids is the child friendly version of the National Geographic website.  This site offers some stunning imagery and a lot of information about the planet that your children should know about. 

The website is suitable for children of all ages and you can use this for free.  There are a number of games that kids can use to learn about different animals.  There are also videos, stories and other activities that they can look at.

Fun Brain

If you are looking for an interactive website that will help your child with number, social studies, science and literacy then Fun Brain is the place to go.  This website offers a number of different online books and comics that are fun and educational.  This is a very bright and colourful site that is actually very good at helping your children. 

The website is free to use and is targeted toward preschool and primary school children.  There is a lot of fun to be had on this website, but there is also a lot of learning that comes with the fun.

Cool Science for Curious Kids

Cool Science for Curious Kids is one of the simpler websites that you can find.  As the name suggests, this website will help your child learn more about science.  There are lots of fun quizzes that can be done and interesting activities that will help them learn.  It is most suited to primary school children and it is free to use.

There are a lot of websites that you can use to help your child’s education.  Most of them will be geared toward helping certain age ranges so carrying out some further research might help.
