Kid Friendly Hotels in Las Vegas

By Edited Jun 13, 2015 1 2

A family vacation to Las Vegas, Nevada may be the last place that pops into your mind when considering your options. While Sin City may be full of adult activities including plenty of strip clubs, bars and casinos, it comes as a surprise to many that there are plenty of kid-friendly Las Vegas hotels and activities. Pay a visit to the Lied Discovery Children's Museum, spend some time playing mini-golf at one of the area courses or turn the kids loose for a day of games and rides at Adventure Dome. There are several top hotel choices when visiting Las Vegas with children.

Circus Circus

The Frommer's Travel Guide, a leading publication in the tourism industry recommends Circus Circus Hotel and Casino as the top kid-friendly Las Vegas hotel. Stay in the property's West Tower if you wish to keep the kids away from the casino environment. All rooms on the property include useful amenities like cable TV, hairdryers, irons and Internet access. If you bring your baby or toddler, Circus Circus offers cribs for a small extra fee. Refrigerators and roll-away beds are also available. Perhaps the most enjoyable part for the kids will be the on-site carnival midway where you can play games to win prizes and watch free circus acts throughout the day. Many of the hotel's eight restaurants offer children's specialties including the Garden Grill and Circus Buffet.

New York, New York

When you enter the New York, New York Hotel and Casino you may not feel like you're in Las Vegas anymore. With hotel rooms available in a number of sizes and the whimsical interior and exterior, this property is ideal for a Vegas kid's vacation. Larger rooms easily accommodate cribs and rollaway beds which are available for a modest fee. Spend the day exploring the hotel which includes a miniature New York skyline on the outside and fantasy city streets complete with shops and restaurants in the inside. You can even walk across a model of the Brooklyn Bridge. Restaurants include several classic takeout spots like New York Pizzeria and the famous Nathan's Hotdogs. Get your food at the window and eat "outside" at tables set up in front of the shops. Other kid-friendly attractions include a taxi-cab roller coaster (only for the very brave!), the Coney Island midway with games and an outdoor swimming pool.

The Excalibur Hotel and Casino also receives recommendations from Frommer's Travel Guide for being a child-friendly Vegas hotel. Kids should be enchanted by the medieval theme that prevails throughout the property. Room amenities like cable TV, wireless Internet access and an iPod docking station should be popular with both kids and adults alike. Consider an upgrade to a Turret Room, completely decked out in a castle theme. Dining options range from a food court to the standard Vegas buffet. Take the young ones to a show like Tournament of Kings or spend the day on playing midway games with a theme of knights and sorcery.
